Yeah that's where a lot of my Australia gambling happened, and that's where they had the weird 25/50 half pot game (I've heard they don't have it anymore).
Next time I'm in Australia I'm so going to visit it just for nostalgic reasons. So many memories from there, it was a time when I was SO excited about poker but punted money away all the time. I just looked back at this story and it seems I wasn't half as elaborate early on when writing this compared to the more recent volumes. I guess it's because I wrote the first few volumes before publishing this, and I didn't know this would get so big / was planning to get done with this sooner. I've managed to pass my entire Brisbane time in like two chapters when I was actually there grinding the **** out of Treasury (and punting my money at the casino games) for at least two months and so much funny stuff happened. I had a semi regular aussie girlfriend back then I didn't even mention, I once accidentally asked a 14 year old girl out on a valentine's day (in my defence, she looked like 20 and was working in a job where in Finland you'd have to be 18 to do it), I have a pretty cool story about a missed jackpot in the caribbean stud casino game, some random girl/sex related stories, etc. A Finnish girl I hung out with for a while back then had been a drug dealer in Finland and a couple of stories mentioning her are pretty insane. Such a good time in many ways except for that it was hella expensive for me and got me in a lot of debt.
If this ever gets turned into a book, I'm going to write a lot more about the early days, both about my sports bets and about my time in Australia and the girl hook-ups, people I met and gambling. It's a bit of a shame how I skipped most of the semi-important events early on.
I'm actually starting to think of turning this into a book (if nothing else then just some e-book) as a pretty big possibility. The past volumes up until now add up to almost 100 pages and once I'm finished this is going to be like 130-140 I think. I'm pretty sure I easily have another 100 pages worth of stuff I've chosen not to mention to not get too carried away but that people would enjoy to read. And now that this has become quite a big thread I hate how this doesn't really work as a novel, since it's not really at all balanced in terms of how much time I spend on talking about what, I don't really have any side characters discussed in depth since I just wanted to tell my story (a lot of weird/heavy/cool stuff has happened to my poker friends, ranging from accidentally sexing ladyboys to death), and you can easily see that I haven't really planned anything and instead have just blurted out words to keep going. I think the single volumes work pretty well but reading them all in one piece would be pretty embarrassing from a writer's standpoint. So I think I'd like it a lot better if it was a story I could be proud of as a novel and not just because of the events in the story.
Either way I'm going to finish this story here before even thinking about a book. I seem to say this a lot but I still think there are at least five volumes to go, basically every time I've written a couple of volumes I remember new stuff and notice that I'm not anywhere near the end.
