Going all in with a full house? Going all in with a full house?

I will admit I am relatively new to trying to play serious poker, but I was recently playing online, and had a full house. Question is, was I wrong to call another players all in when I has this hand? And yes, I lost to a higher full house. I don't think I played this wrong , but would appreciate thoughts.

This isn't really the best place to ask this question - but in the future, wherever you post, you need to be able to give a lot more details about the hand.

Just look at the difference between these 2 scenarios:

1) you raise in late position with 98 suited, and the BB calls. The flop is 998. You bet and BB calls. The turn is a jack. You bet and he calls. The river is a 3, and he goes all-in for about half the pot.

2) it is limped to you in the BB and you check with 63. The flop is 993, and it is checked around. The turn is a K and someone bets and you call (for some reason). The river is a 9 - giving you a full house. You bet half pot, next guy calls, and the button goes all-in for more than a pot sized bet.

Both of these are situations where you have a full house and someone went all-in. In both cases you could be behind and you could be ahead. But in the first one you are very likely to be ahead and in the second one are almost certainly behind.

This should make it very clear that Xenoblade's response "it depends" is the only correct response to your question.

Everything you have done is correct, even posting this.

The solution is to fold always, if your opponent is never bluffing and never betting with trips or a smaller full house. If your opponent is balanced and betting as a solverer would recommend, the solution in that scenario is to fold always.

Was gonna move to the Beginners Questions forum (BQ), but I think BBV handled this one pretty well.

In future, OP, if you have simple beginner questions, I’d invite you to post in the BQ Forum.

This is Beats Brags and Variance (BBV) where players come to whine when they play bad and get stacked.

Depends so much on the other actions that led to the all in. What range did you put him on? What was his stack size? What was your stack size? What was the pre and post flop action? How wet was the board? Was your boat with a pocket pair? How much equity to call?

It's like asking whether I made the right decision to buy a car.. but I tell you absolutely nothing about the car or my circumstances.
