My part in the BBJ

got to the Borgata pretty early on monday morning. within 20 minutes of sitting down this hand occurs...

CU [10d7d]- raises to 12

Button (me) [AsKs]- calls raise to 12, cuz its early and im a pussy (good thing I didn't re-pop pre tho)

SB Super aggro young kid who is betting everything [8 8 ]- calls 12

flop- 8d 9d Jd

obv the original raiser flops his straight flush, and the small blind flops his set and i get out of the way with dick.

all the money gets in on the river when the last 8 hits and the table goes nuts. usually there's at least one ******* muttering about bbj possibilities during a hand, but no one was paying attention to it this early.

10 7 wins 10k and a 600 pot
88 loses and wins 20k
table share for 7 other since one empty seat, was 2857.

as someone who always bitches and gripes about how the bbj is a pipedream, i feel silly and lucky and happy.
my personal bbv...

Re: My part in the BBJ

been a while since i been out that way. nice to see borgata finally got a real bbj. when i used to play there they had some stupid thing going before where all the qualifying bad beats after 3 month period would split a jackpot with the most money going to the "worst" beat.

i actually saw a bad beat there during that time period. it was also was quads vs straight flush all in on the turn. like 56dd vs 88. 7898 on the board.

everyone went crazy and one guy even shouted at the top of his lungs BAD BEAT!!!!! echoing through that huge cardroom.

the floor comes over and is like "yup that's a beat just deal the river now" and the dealer rolls off Td, meaning only the 6d of the winner played, counterfeiting the bad beat. floor guy is like TROLOLOL and 3 ppl just snap racked up and left in rage.

Re: My part in the BBJ

You realize that this BBJ is going to cost you a helluva lot more than you won long term as it will have engraind the habit of flatting a raise in LP when you have a 3-betting hand. So instead of taking the more profitable line of raising and being in control post flop, you now will just flat and lose significant value pre and post flop.

It's funny that you mention that now, because I started restoring stuff yesterday. The connection in my new home sucks, and there's a lot of old files to dig through, so it's going to be a slow process. But I am restoring most of the stuff that was taken down for various reasons.
