For the record by this definition (and rejecting the mainstream definition) of a winner being happy in life: Charles Manson, Kim Jung Un, Adolf Hitler, Ted Bundy, Jerry Sandusky and all other people who do terrible things are winners in life as long as they are happy people and don't need drugs.

If Elon Musk, Bill Gates, the late Steve Jobs (known drug user), Michael Jordan, Lorne Michaels, Summer Redstone, Jeffery Katzenberg, Casey Wasserman or Ari Emmanuel wanted to partake in some recreational drug use or boozing in moderation and aren't explicitly happy (whether due to depression or otherwise) they are not winners in life.

I'm positive my life has been shortened because of it. I've planned whole days worth of meetings around commuting hours and still been late all day fighting traffic - it's currently ranked worst in the world for gridlock even worst than Moscow or Lagos.
