For some time I've been developing some new moves to punish players that are better than me. The idea isn't to beat consistently someone who is better, but to reduce the amount you will lose vs them.
Most of those moves are better applied on ZOOM, and 100bb deep, so hero can still get a lot of money from fish, also with 100bb edges become smaller than when deep stacked. So always play with 100bb, if you get to 130bb, reset ur stack.
Ok, let's start with the moves:
1- Don't negotiate with terrorists
When hero raises and a good red 3-bets him and hero 4-bets.
Hero should 4-bet slightly bigger big(close to 2.8x-3.2x), and a merged range(Suited broadways, JJ+, AQo+).
Usually good regs call 4-bets a lot, because @ post-flop outplay lol.
The idea od this strat is to construct a pretty wide shoving range OTF, made of overcards+, jam midpairs, top pairs, overpairs, sets, whatever, just jam.
If villain is flatting AQo/AK, which is close to the top of his pre-flop range, he is missing the flop 2/3 of the time, he will have a tough time calling open-shoves with A high, even if he calls, we will usually realize all our equity, no matter how bad it is, while getting some free pots.
Villain can counterattack that strat in a lot of ways, but it will take him some time to realize what we're doing, lol. Even if he always flats his AA/KK/QQ and shove more into our 4-bets, we can just stop shoving when we see that he is always doing that.
fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 3 BB, SB calls 2.6 BB, BB raises to 12 BB, Hero raises to 27 BB, fold, BB calls 15 BB
Flop:(57 BB, 2 players) 4 Q 7
BB checks, Hero bets 74.56 BB and is all-in, fold
Hero wins 54.44 BB
This move is based on the last word concept.
2 - Last word concept
When a player is all-in, he will realize his total equity, so in a spot where 2 players are pretty wide, usually the first who goes all-in is winning the pot.
So you're right if you're the one going all-in with crap, villain is wrong if he is calling it with crap.
3 -Repoppin' dem squeezers
Flatting PPs pre is good, but they are weak vs squeezes, which good aggressive players do a lot, so it's good to jam over the squeezes, specially if the original raiser called it, there's so much dead money in the board that it's fine, you have a good amount of fold equity and are flipping vs AK/AQ.
Over my sample this kind move winning me more than aces lol.
fold, MP raises to 3 BB, Hero calls 3 BB, BTN raises to 12 BB, SB calls 11.5 BB, fold, MP calls 9 BB, Hero raises to 106.88 BB and is all-in, fold, fold, fold
Hero wins 49 BB
4 - Go pro or go home
One thing that you usually see is that bads regs usually lose most of their money from better regs in small pots, lots of them. They usually play OOP, get crushed, villain gets free cards, gets value, sometimes he denies the bad player's equity. So the idea here is: you either check-fold the flop as the PF aggressor(don't even put a cbet in the pot, specially OOP), and give up. Or go nuts in the hand: bet the flop, bet the turn, check-shove the river, overbet the flop, check-jam OTT, triple barrel like crazy.
The idea behind this one is that good regs aren't satisfied only with the easy pre-flop pot they won, they fight for pots, and is in those spots that bad regs lose: they float OTF, just to fold OTT, or OTR, giving a lot of manies to the good reg. Rather than playing a lot of medium pots that you will usually just donate to the better reg, just put him into some sick spots, like double-check-raising, do it with the nuts, with tptk, draws and air, since it makes it even more difficult to exploit **** like that.
Also by check-folding and giving up more, when you go nuts your range is way stronger, stick with TP+, sets, 2-pair, strong draws and some gutshots with backdoors, just give up ur 22 you called pre to try to setmine and didn't get there.
Just look at this one: even OTB is getting stacked in this spot
River:(71.06 BB, 2 players) A Hero bets 83.78 BB and is all-in, BTN calls 83.78 BB
Spoiler:
Hero shows A 6 (Two Pair, Aces and Fours)
(Pre 56%, Flop 43%, Turn 27%) BTN shows Q K (Two Pair, Kings and Fours)
(Pre 44%, Flop 57%, Turn 73%) Hero wins 234.62 BB
5 - Hand merging
Hand merging is the ultimate weapon in the arsenal of the bad reg vs a top reg. In these times we live, polarized ranges are all over the place, everyone only mess with polarized ranges because they're easier to manage than merged ones. We, bad regs can't make a good merged range, even high stakes regs can't. But this polarized way of thinking is a shackle that good players create to restrain bad players from making real moves.
People talk bad about hand merging because it's a move that reduces the pro's edge over bad regs, they don't want you to learn it. But I'm here to teach you the ways of the merging.
If 2 players are playing polarized ranges in aggressive spots, the best will destroy the bad one, just like in the last word concept, but learning how to play proper poker is harder than clicking the all-in button.
The reason for that edge is that if you're more polarized towards the nuts, a good reg will always fold, if you're bluffing like crazy, he will always bluffcatch, and since a bad reg doesn't even know what a range is, he won't be able to balance his range. So the idea here is to make your moves with the nuts, 50% of all the crap you have in a spot, and put all medium strength hands in there, like KK on 654TAr, top pair weak kicker, lower end straight, low flush on 4-to flush boards.
The reason behind merging is that villain will need a good hand to call, since you negate bluffcatchers, and it's hard to have a good hand in hold'em, so a good reg's skill will have almost no impact on how good he will play the hand. You will probably be donating money to him tho, but in a much more honorable way, with a way higher variance and way less amount will be donated than if you play your normal game.
River:(50.6 BB, 2 players) 5 Hero checks, CO bets 37.1 BB, Hero raises to 103.8 BB and is all-in, fold
Hero wins 120.8 BB
6 - Never slowplay
By slowplaying, you give yourself chance to get outplayed by the opponent. You don't want to be check-calling a lot, but when you do it, donk the turn.
if you wanna get a free cbet from a good reg, instead of check-calling a set OTF, check-raise as the pre-flop aggressor. Be wild.
7- Added bonus of these moves
By making moves like these, you will play an easier game than opponent, variance will be really high, so you apply a huge amount of psychological pressure on the good reg, specially if the gods of poker are in your side. The good reg isn't a machine, he is human like all us. If you implement these moves he won't be facing a bad reg anymore, he will be facing a true demon, a demon from the microstakes. Which will crush his soul(if gods of poker aren't on his side). Also when a bad reg makes a bad move and suck out on the good reg, the psychological impact is off the charts, people tilt more when they lose by someone playing like a monkey, just keep doing it and break him down to his knees.
Peace, sometimes you just have to go nutz, if someone is better than you are, then let the gods decide. You gotta be brave and fast.
I like words. I like fat buttery words, such as ooze, turpitude, glutinous, toady. I like solemn, angular, creaky words, such as straitlaced, cantankerous, pecunious, valedictory. I like spurious, black-is-white words, such as mortician, liquidate, tonsorial, demi-monde. I like suave "V" words, such as Svengali, svelte, bravura, verve. I like crunchy, brittle, crackly words, such as splinter, grapple, jostle, crusty. I like sullen, crabbed, scowling words, such as skulk, glower, scabby, churl. I like Oh-Heavens, my-gracious, land's-sake words, such as tricksy, tucker, genteel, horrid. I like elegant, flowery words, such as estivate, peregrinate, elysium, halcyon. I like the word screenwriter better than copywriter, so I decided to quit my job in a New York advertising agency and try my luck in Hollywood, but before taking the plunge I went to Europe for a year of study, contemplation and horsing around.
I have just returned and I still like words.
May I have a few with you?
