is this downswing normal? is this downswing normal?

in one and half years as a rec. at pokerstars, buyin is between $1.10-$3.30, regular and bounty builder tournaments. after 1374 tournaments i am down -$600. At the beginnings i made a bankroll management mistake but day by day i improved my game, still studying. But lately i can not win two races in a row. between few minutes before end of the late reg. and few pay jumps after bubble is the stage where i lose tournaments. I have better preflop equity, dominate, block his outs but most of the time donk hits river. Then i left with less than 10bb, i shove in right spot, i double up, then level changes, no good hands, i shove again with 15bb, i lose. AJs vs A9o, JJ vs A8o, AK vs 99, 99 vs AQ, KK vs JTo, AA vs 66... etc.. This become a pattern in my poker life.

I made to few final tables but mostly i make min cashes. I don't expect to win every race, but i can not think a way to win a tournament without winning flips. And i never see one

Do you think this downswing is normal?

i am thinking to quit poker if i lose my bankroll (i love the game too much). because i can not think any way to improve my luck which causes me more losses than the mistakes i made. investment time and money on studying is not turning to profit.day by day richer at knowledge, poorer at bankroll.

thanks for your answers and time

Not a super large sample size. You have bouts of success. Examine your leaks, tighten up any spots you think you might be loose (limping too frequently, 3bet range sucks).

Are you playing multiples at once? Maybe move to cash?

I am multitabling with 2-3 tournaments most of the time. I can play more than that but i don't have an extra monitor. Some days i register to 6 tournaments some days only one. I am playing cash games for pokerstars challenges only, it needs a proper bankroll. i am comfortable at 10NL and 25NL, maybe a little profit.

total hands 129,810 vp:15,8 pfr:10.2 3bet: 5.24 uo pfr:15.1
wtsd: 39.7 won at sd: 54.5 agg% 28.9 cbet:59 fold vs cebt: %62 steal:26

my steal and 3bet low, because in these stakes, there are a lot of limpers and they don't easily fold but they shove easily. I don't limp too much. but i try to increase 3bet and steal percentages.

inb4 "move up to where they respect your raises."

At 10nl/25nl you could probably benefit from bumping up the aggression, but you seem more tournament focused. To answer your question directly, downswings are pretty standard in tournaments, especially over your sample size. You have periods of success followed by downswing. Unless you run like god, this is going to be the norm. Best advice I can give you is to tighten up at later stages and identify all your leaks to get deeper when you do cash.

Honestly, BBV isn't the place you want to go to receive serious advice. Check out the MTT forums and see who has come before you. Check out "successful" players' SharkScopes, so on so forth. Good luck, OP.

the prob with pokerstars is the micros have huge fields like +2k in many cases this will increase your variance big time

Yep standard run bad. Just keep playing, you will probably hit it big very soon.

OP,

Sick brag about playing at Stars...

Unless you are sun running, this is typical variance for the larger player pool donkaments. If you're not comfortable with cash ring, you can attempt to offset that variance with SnG's... Get it in good. Win more flips. Good luck!
