With $600, i arrived in the capital of Cambodia and after settling at a cockroach infested guesthouse, my first stop was of course, Nagaworld. I arrived at 2pm and found that the poker games only started running at 6pm, although two dealers were present at the poker table (cheap manpower).
With four hours to kill and past experiences of winning ~$300 at the blackjack tables, I headed over to exchange for chips. It didn't take long for my $25 bets to escalate to $200 bets and soon i was left with $155 to last me for the next 6 days. $155 is still alot, given that the average income here is about ~$100 or so and a meal is a dollar while a beer is half a meal.
I decided to call it quits but i couldn't fall asleep at night. An idea came into my mind which was to put $100 on blackjack and win it, then head over to the poker table and recoup all my losses. While on my way to Nagaworld, i spent the whole time thinking what the **** i was doing. If i lost that hand, i would be left with $55 for 6 days, and given that my current accommodation cost me $12/night...
The relief i felt when i won the $100 hand - damn. I headed straight for the poker table, going against the temptation of placing a $200 bet.
It was 5am now and after 7 hours of grinding and playing with scared money against the loaded fishes, i sat on a $470 stack, just $30 from recouping all my losses that day. Then this hand just had to happen.
My image was TAG, tight as in extremely tight so as my stack grew i decided to make use of it.
I raised in QJo MP to $10, and got two callers, one of them being Weak Tight Reg (WTG). Flop came Q98, two hearts and checked to me. I threw out $25 and WTG immediately shoved all in for his ******ed 50BB stack.
Given his image (folded AJ/AQ PF when he had 30BB against a 3 bet) i should have known better, but i put him on a heart draw and thought he was semi bluffing. That ****er showed me a 9 of hearts as he told me he had a pair. I tabled my QJ. Turn J, river blank. ****er flips over two 9s and i felt like kicking his dirty ass.
Now i'm all tired and tilted, having had 3 hours sleep in the past 36 hours or so. Few hands later, i pick up J10o and raised to $12 LP, got two callers, Cambodian fish and Viet fish (In position).
Flop 672 diamonds, i had no diamonds in my hand. Check, i bet $25, both called. Pot Around $113 or so.
Turn K spades, check, i threw out $75 quickly and got called by viet fish while Cambodian fish folded. Pot ~263$
River a blank and i shoved my remaining stack into the middle, about a pot sized bet. Viet fish tanks and tanks for 10mins. Stares at me intensely while i nervously sip on my coffee and water. He then flips over sixes for a set (****ing sets) and thinks and thinks, looks and looks at me as though i am a thief.
He tells me if i bet $100 he would snap, but an all in? When i saw the sixes my heart immediately sank as i knew there was no way that Viet stupid fish was going to let go of a set, despite my ultra tight image and the fact that was my first 3 barrel in the entire ****ing session.
Eventually he calls and covers me, as i let out an expression of grievous hurt and walk back to the buddhist lodge where my scooter is parked.
For the next 6 days or so, with $55, i spent 3 nights in a $5.50 dorm and 3 nights homeless, alternating between a fast food place, the streets of Phomn Penh and the benches outside the airport which was a grave mistake as they belonged to the Cambodian ****ing mosquitoes.
I went 24 hours without food as i had no money while i watched other *******s order their WHOOPER meals from burger king and chomping greedily on their stupid fries in immense jealousy, not envy.
All my plans to travel around and head to Siam Reap was destroyed and really, the 6 days were hell. I thought of calling back home to ask for help but came to a decision that i was responsible for my degenerate ass and deserved to put up with crap conditions as a form of punishment for my actions.
Still, I plan to head back over for my vengenance in due time.
