What exactly does it mean to buy gold at 10x margin a day?

Pretty sure it means he was fronting 10% of the total $ for the gold bought.

for example... Since the broker doesn't feel gold will move more than 10% in a given day....

They let u put up $10,000 and you can purchase $100,000 of gold.

This way you take the gains and losses on 100K rather than on 10K (more reward if it moves in your favor).

If it moves against u.. they know u have at least 10,000 to cover.

If it moves more than your 10K you have fronted... then yes you owe them that money.

And I believe you are charged interest on the $ you are borrowing... 90K for example.

Exactly. Gold moved down nearly 7% the week after Bin Laden's death so I was down 70% at some point. I am still holding the gold and paid nearly 1k USD in interests so far (not including credit cards interest). The crazy thing is part of my up front money is for school and another part was a loan from the bank and the rest came from credit cards. This is what you call leveraged leverage.

You put up collateral and then the brokerage firm termporarily loans you 10x the money. Therefore, if it goes up, your profit is 10x what it would normally be. If it goes down 10%, you're broke.

AKA a really quick way to screw yourself really hard.

My bank offers many services to buy gold, including an account denominated in gold and margin services so it's way more convenient and cheaper to buy and sell it from the bank. Even before I started buying gold on margin I had most of my money in gold and only converted it to cash when I needed some immediately. I will only make the bet if I make some money from my current trade in gold, I am not yet degen enough to bet a lot of money I don't have on a -EV coin flip (even though I have done it before the amount was smaller so I would only be screwed for a few weeks had I lost). My rich degen friend who regularly brings huge amounts to sportbooks, horse races and Macau to plays Baccarat for over 10k+ a hand (over USD1,500) invited me to go during the summer holiday so I hope gold recovers quickly so we can have a blast.


I am currently trying to get the diamond status with Sands and since none of my friends use a player card when gambling they sometimes let me accumulate points by betting in my spot. At the rate I am getting points I calculated the EV of getting to diamond is -HKD1,000,000 but I'm trying to find ways to get there for less (already got 5% of the points required and I'm up 40k with Sands). Will definitely post some updates if I do make the bet.

Was waiting for gold to reach 1560 before selling but it never made it past 1558.2; today tilted me so bad I donked money betting even on roulette and odd came many times. Looks like I'll have to cancel my Macau trip. At least now that all my poker accounts are empty I can concentrate on watching videos and reviewing hand histories.

I start playing some 500$ hyper turbo sats to the 1k super tuesday on stars w/Jorj95 obv and run like god, roll upto 9k, awesome I think. Ive got the hang of this. I calm down a bunch.

Later that year ive been messing around with some live pokers with mixed results, but my gf is giving me the whole, you lost a gucci watch tonight, wtf speech, so I shut her up and buy her a laptop as a gift because she was a broke eastern european anyway and didnt have a laptop (you can see where this is going) So ive started showing some more stable results but still have <degen inside syndrome> so im playing a bunch of 26$ 45man sngs on FTP and run like god, make about 2.5k in a week and go on a 1.5k not upswing and get miffed, I have about 9k in the bank and things have been pretty uneventful, the gf is giving me the whole gaaaaamblor speech so I decide to be balla while at her place and try to win big @ NL2k 6max on stars (lol wp me) I just sit at a random table and Elky was there so him being the pro, he is obv bluffing me all the time in my eyes. We get into a 3betting wars and this time I have 56o and no f way im letting this go, if I ran 56 into KK, then fml but im going with it. Board comes down Q85 and i think, GIN! AK missed and im going to rep a set anyway so *** him. He leads, i raise, he calls. Turn x. he check/calls. I turn to the gf and say: look at this drawing fish. Riv x. He checks, I jam for 2/3 pot and he snaps off w/TT. Her laptop goes right off the balcony and I storm off in rage. Im single.

So I decide to fly to Madrid to play poker there cause there were some tourneys running and thought a break would be nice. (doing the odd job on the side for extra food and titty money) I sign into a 200e tourney the day before the event I planned to play and people started rebuying for 100e (Weird i know) Turns out its a 200e tourney with 1k stacks and 100e for rebuys with stupid structure, but fk it, i can ball, im in for 1.1k and dont cash. Head over to the cash tables where the queue was massive but there was space at 2/5, that will do me nicely, (sidenote, in madrid the cash tables are played in a counter clockwise direction, wtf i know) and I go on a heater and all the old men are fish there anyway and left with 6k. On the way back to my hotel I ask the taxi driver for a hooker and some smoke and he hooks me up, I finally meet this hooker and omfg I would have rather fked roadkill if it was still warm. I pass but have to pay something anyway, so I look up whores in madrid and find that I have to goto a street called grand via. I find a good looking romanian girl who proceeds to rape me for 700e but I got my jollies off so w/e. Time to head back home..

There are some 1/2k events running along with the action the IPT and GSOP bring, good time as any to get in. I spike 3rd in a GSOP event and head straight to roulette and proceed to lose a bunch of it, with BR decreasing rapidly now I turn up at some 500e KO event and there is some loud mouthed italian there who is acting all bigshot (turns out he was bigshot, he had a sick ferrari outside the casino but w/e) I couldnt let this slide cause the dealer was ultra fit, so I tell him that the first hand we are getting it in blind, he agrees. I obv open jam blind and he thinks about folding, I call him a puta which I dont even think is italian and he huffs and then calls, I win w/Q high and he leaves angry. I bust like 40mins later and join him at the cash tables. He rapes me for 4k but it was just varience, if i won it would be skill obv. I go home and throw my floor fan out of the window just because.

I take it easy for a few months after that, a few weeks ago I start trying the slow grind thing and its going well, running 6bb/100 over 140k hands. Tonight I run into some **** who decides to flop the nuts vs my set at nl200 and go on ape tilt for no reason. I decide im going to teach him a lesson and lose 1k to the table and none to him, I proceed to open shove almost 90% of hands for the next 60 hands. I run 830bbs above ev and am up almost 6 buyins.

700 in account. I'll try to work it up to like 725 or 750 and quit. play 5 dollar hands. lose like 10 in a row to go to 650... wtf?!??! (start tilt here). lets go to $10 a hand. then i fall to like 550 or 500. Now i get pissed. 25 or 50 a hand. next thing you know i'm down to like 125. then its always like 5 brutal beats to crush me. usually dealer getting blackjacks or drawing 7's on a 14 to beat my 20. usually i get a double down with a 25 bet and 25 left, which results in a 17 getting cracked by something. then i stare at the 0 in my account and think, did that really just happen?
