Also why the **** do you keep calling him a buffalo? Is that supposed to be clever?
1) My stack didn't go in until I had the straight. The odds of one of the other two players having the higher straight were mitigated by me holding 2 of the 3's needed to complete a straight with them holding just a 7. I weighed the odds of either having the 7,8 for the nut straight and their behavior/my reads didn't indicate either had the nuts -- just hoping they did. Live poker is a wild ride -- do all the math you want, but reads on opponents are valuable.

2) I didn't call anyone a "buffalo".

lol oh it says "bluffalo". Very clever, congrats

Oh and you're right my mistake, you put half your stack in as a 4/1 dog

So you are playing in a 3 bet pot and part of your logic is having blockers to 3-7. Great play.

Uh.. that's the logic for calling the all-in on the turn -- when I had the made straight.

There aren't monsters under every bed.

is this a troll? quit buying in for 50 dollars. and all of this is dependent upon stack sizes if your play was good or bad. but if your buying in for $50 im assumings its terribad. have a since of pride op when u buy in.

Short buys are a strategy. You may or may not like them, but they aren't wrong. If you are playing at a very aggressive and loose table, then a short buy is a very good choice to make. If you're playing with a bunch of nits, then no. I am usually playing in a very loose and aggressive game. Plus it's not like you can't top off to the cap if you decide after a few hands that's a better option. I can usually triple/quadruple up fairly quickly, so the short buy is my preferred starting point (so far, my best cash out from a $60 buy-in at $1/2 was $2175).

At higher limit games where (ostensibly) more players are aware of the math involved, then a short buy may or may not be an advantage depending upon the table.

Yeah, I hate having a big stack when there are a bunch of loose aggressive people throwing their money around. Particularly when rake takes a huge chunk of my profit when I can only invest $50 in a pot.

Yeah just like sending in wave after wave of grunts to get mowed down until your enemy runs out of ammo is a "strategy" too. Just a terrible one.

I know i shouldn't ask, but I am curious about the bold above:
If you can usually triple up a $60 buy in fairly quickly, what happens differently when you buy in full? Is it your play that changes?

Finally, he is big blind, and a MP raises preflop to $12.. I call with pocket 3's (it was a pretty loose table, so $12 was likely to get 5+ callers)... when action gets to the Bluffalo he 3-bets to $35.. original raiser calls, I call, the rest fold.

The flop is: 4, 5, 6, with 2 hearts... the Bluffalo leads out for $65, MP calls, I call.. turn is a 2 of diamonds and Bluffalo shoves all in 200+ left at his point (I have him covered), MP calls (I have him covered too)! I happily call (I admit I was wondering if the Bluffalo had raised preflop with 7,8.. but you can't expect monsters under every bed).

River is a King of clubs... Bluffalo proudly turns over his set of Kings as I table my straight (MP had pocket jacks)... he starts to argue as the massive pot is being pushed to me (almost all in $5 chips).. as the dealer is saying "she had a straight to the 6" while he is repeating "I have a set of kings!".

Moral of the story: this stuff happens when you get bluff happy and show your bluffs.
