I think I achieved the biggest punt ever in MTT history. I think I achieved the biggest punt ever in MTT history.

Let me just preface this by saying although this is only a $5 tournament, the sheer size of this punt I feel like should be shared for my misery.

I somehow donated 280bb to the current chip leader of the table and probably the MTT at that time who had 400bb.

For better context we are currently in level 9 at 125/250, with a current starting stack being 10k or 40bb.
We currently have 7 starting stacks which 5 of was accumulated through a 3 way all in where we hit a 4 outter to boat up vs a flopped straight.

Oooops.

Better lucky than good I guess xD

Now you may notice that villian 12 already has 439bb in this picture, who will eventually be the recipient of most of my chips later.

He managed to stack multiple people who decided that they wanted to be all-in and he would just have the best hand for piles of chips. Whilst maintaining an amazing VPIP of 75+%

Normally this would be amazing for me, because eventually I would get into a pot where this person would either donate piles of chips through chasing draws and missing or having a 2nd best hand and paying me off.
But recently I had a thing where I would build my stack in the early stages of multiple MTT's then collide with another stack and lose, and the person who I clashed with would instantly vault to no.1 in the MTT for chips. So I was already starting to feel uneasy whenever I got into pots with this person.

The Hand.
UTG limps, Giga Whale limps, CO raises to 5bb, Bu Calls.
I wake up with JJ in the BB, sometimes I would flat this to set mine because of the wierd stack size of the CO, he's only got 40bb, what size do I squeeze to that is good? Any size I raise here is either too small to force folds, or big enough that if the CO jams I'm kind of commited to calling, whilst Jacks is a great hand it's not really doing so great to a 40bb 4bet jam.

Anyways, I decided that I still needed to 3 bet because what I really need to do was kick the Giga Whale out of the pot or at least charge him to continue, if anyone jammed so be it, I've got like 280bb, I can afford to lose like 40 right?
I make it 18bb to go.
Back to the UTG limper, who immediately back jams for 40bb, the whale calls (ofc he does), CO calls, and now the BU decides it's his time to get it in as well and rejams for another 15bb for a total of 55bb.
Now to me, with all this action I'm just bewildered, theres now 183BB in the middle before I make my action! For context, this is 4.5 starting stacks in the middle.

I know I might not have the best hand but I'm getting an amazing price, and I think the BU jam is full of ****.
Unfortunately the X factor is the Gigawhale who is left to act behind.
I really didn't want to jam my stack in (I probably should have), so I elect to call (worst option) hoping he doesn't jam.
He calls.
Flop is 872r, not a great flop since it's slightly connected and he could easily have all the sets here. I elect to check, he checks.
Turn 9. I decide at this moment I want to deny equity before anymore cards come that are bad(Hint: They are all bad!), he snaps having turned a straight, the river runs out completing the backdoor flush which the CO now has.
So I started with the 2nd best hand preflop, and ended up on the river with the worst!

I am not reading all that but probably folding the river would have been the correct play.

You managed to misplay this hand twice preflop, once on the flop, and once on the turn.

Bravo.

It's always good to see that low stakes tournaments are alive and well. It's a lawless wasteland at these stakes so you always need to evaluate your multiway Equity whenever multiple people are showing interest in the pot. I think JJ doesn't perform well enough against multiple all ins to want to stack off here.
