Maybe it is just me but there is no way I would miss my child's birth for 100k. However, I am sure op has thought about this and will be able to work around this and get his hours in.

honestly, if you are close with your manager (even better hes a friend) you can get whatever you want as long as you are a good worker and can handle basic tasks. So I am sure you will be able to do this and should even be able to get a day or 2 off a week if you are willing to put in long shifts. Good luck this will be one hell of an experience and I hope its a positive one.
