Monday I had a long session at the nearest B&M casino, which ended up being about 10 hours. I stuck around because of the table, my win rate and perception of me as viewed by others.
Early in the morning I bought in for the table max, $300 at 1/2. There were 2 regulars (1 tight passive, 1 loose passive), 2 mawg loose passive, 1 mawg tight passive, 1 Asian male in his late 20's, 1 Asian male in his late 50's maniac, 1 Caucasian female late 60's, and a mid 40's tourist.
No stack was bigger than about $400.
I was in my A game zone for a while, and brought my stack up to $650ish. The maniac made all in shoves in the BB and SB on straddles. On the button he shoved against my hand which had him dominated and my stack shot up to $1000.
For the next 5 hours I was averaging $300 an hour and gaining the reputation that no matter what anyone played I won. What they didn't realize is that I got out of the way in small pots out of position with mediocre hands, and I played large pots in position with a balanced range. The shwdown value of suited connectors turned straights, flushes and sets really gained momentum.
Soon I had a stack totaling $2,800! At a freaking 1/2 table.
I learned a lot about my game and playing others yesterday. I also learned that a lot of people look at you carrying 6 racks to the cage from a 1/2 table.
It was a good day and I hope to retain the lessons learned.
