Lost my job a month ago and decided to spend my new free time at the local casino. Biggest Hold’em game is $1-$2 with $2-$100 spread limit (the most you can raise is $100 more than the previous bet).

And….I’ve played for 61 hours and am up $3450 so far. And YES $840 of that is running over my All-In-EV, but, still. My last job was a fake email job, I didn’t earn close to this much.

It’s not speeding up my job search, is what I’m saying.

How do you know that playing live?

True—I am only able to calculate it based on hands my Villains show, so there have been a few AI hands I can’t factor because they just mucked. But on the ones where we went all in and each showed our hands….yes, up $840 on expected value in All-In-Before-The-River spots. (Granted, $340 of that was my AK beating Villain’s AA in a $360 pot yesterday…)

update: I’m now up to 34 BBs/hr after 76 hours, as my profit has crept over $5,000 since starting last month.

I now believe I am a winning player at these stakes.

I’m down to 26 BBs/hour after 92 hours, after punting 3 buy-ins on Monday due to a terrible case of tilt. (And also they kept having the nuts when I bluffed into them!)

That’s still a sweet hourly, just gotta work on the mental game. I play there very sporadically, any suggestions on days/time of day you think the games are better? Or days/times to avoid?

I play 9 to 5 on weekdays.
