i will hold my praise for testing but that is weird enough to be accurate, i am assuming that is a second conditional format equation to be layered over the same range?

I fink so I fink so. Test it out and lemme know. Should work as intended.

If i enter it in cell A1 and drag down to fill all cells in column A, and then apply the conditional formatting i get 2 results

1 - all cells become shaded
2 - by nature of the formula, with only 1 cell/row, circularity is introduced into my model (this is not fatal but can be an issue)

So it did not work, i see he is trying to introduce some kind of delimiter to categorize the columns as binary instead or ternary, but i do not see how that circumvents the grouped/non-grouped issue and i do not understand why we need the condition of the and function which essentially reads cell a1 does not equal nothing ( in excel formula the clause $A1<>"")

This is all based on me implementing correctly tho, and we can move to pm if you wish to continue and not spam the well
