They truly feel terrible and guilty(and they should). It's a natural response, for the purpose of illiciting sympathy. Everybody has done wrong things. Everyone has felt guilty. Look how well it's worked, people feel bad for people who just got caught stealing 7.5k. I'm not saying it's conscious either, they do trulyfeel worthless right now; many will truly feel sorry and rationalize that they are couple of kids got mixed up yada yada, just made a mistake etc. It's not that simple. I don't think it was malicious, more just stemming from an insatiable desire of money and winning, but what they did is not worthy of sympathy.(They know this too) It sucks they have to live with the guilt, but that's just a growing process. Which brings me to my next point.
Every crime should be punished reasonably, however. We've known this forever, even attempted guildlines for punishment like "An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth" have a logical basis for them. Nowadays it's not neccessarily about retribution, but rehabilition, restituion, and prevention.(And a few other things too)
Rehabilitation: They will be better people if their punishment works.
Restituion: My old Principal used to say, "Don't be sorry, fix it." This has been done by the winners of the bet receiving money.
Prevention: Make sure this won't happen again.
Outting their identities may serve some sort of preventative function, but it I believe it will be more vengeful than anything. Let the punishment suit the crime. They chipdumped to win a bet. Ban their cheating poker accounts, seize their cheating money(I don't know if seizing all of it is totally fair) and don't let them post here anymore. These are all the vehicles they used to attempt their con, I think doing this is preventative enough without outting their real names.(Which, I might add, were never used for this con)

Well, that's just, like, your OPINION, man.

not being funny, but as CJ pointed out at the beginning of the thread, the biggest crime here was giving him 3-1 on this prop! wtf!!
I can't decide whether i believe roseeker is genuine in his apology or just FOS, funny thing is he was always f*cking terrible at cash games so that T7 hand would have been pretty standard for him.
as for Gary... LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL, you sir are a retard.

I guess in retrospect 3-1 was pretty fair and I was wrong about the odds lol, he would have lost like 5k if didnt cheat.

oh, and lol at all the ppl saying 'well he seems genuinely sorry'. people are sorry when they get caught and have to deal with consequences, not because they know they actually did something wrong. /sociopath

Roseeker, seriously consider getting some counseling and medication if you're seriously having thoughts of suicide. Counseling would probably be good for you regardless.

Nobody you meet in real life is going to know this happened. you basically are going to have a fresh start in real life. You've burnt bridges here for a while at least.
Try to not make this a complete waste. This was nothing...stupid bet for a few bucks. But like you said, things escalate. What will be next for you?
Not sure exactly where you can find the answers you need but don't sit around and hope they come to you...actively seek them however you need to.
Good luck in life. I wish you well.

+1
I'm a firm believer in second chances when people are genuine in their apology as I believe these two are. They are guilty of being young and stupid. You should be glad that you learned this lesson at this young age instead of later in life when it will cost you a whole lot more. I think having ur reputations ruined, funds seized, and accounts closed is more than fair punishment.
I also appreciate u being honest and forthcoming in ur apology (especially roseeker) instead of just running away and hiding. I know writing what u did could not have been easy. Best of luck in the future as I believe these next few months are going to be very trying and difficult for u.
