I just want to chime in and be the only person to really get behind JDR's line here. I really don't think he wins here often enough to call. I mean, sure there are those guys who do **** like this, but if JDR says he has a lot of hours with this guy then I think we can all accept that he's not the type of guy to really show up with a bluff here 10% of the time.

There's like no way villain ever has KK or AQ here either. Several people here are arguing about whether or not we should just call down from the turn raise. But somehow this somewhat-reasonable player decides his 1 pair hand is good for a value-raise on the river? Come on. If villain posted the hand from his point of view and had AA or KK, the advice here would be "cry call down" from the turn 3bet. Nobody would even be considering "call turn raise river" or "4bet turn" with 1-pair hands. Just wouldn't happen.

And yes, I know Avoidthe9to5 and a few others would sometimes advocate a river bluff raise with busted draws, and that's fine, but by and large almost everybody is underbluffing river bricks like this. Certainly anybody who isn't up on their GTO strategies is.

There's a BIG jump from "sometimes plays hands fancy and is guilty of mildly overvaluing hands against me" to "raises 1 pair hands on the river for value as the 5th bet to go in on the big bet streets. JDR is in the BB and has a full panoply of 2 pair hands, sets, straights, etc and JDR has shown aggression at every point where we'd expect aggression to be a considered option. Villain isn't just deciding one pair is still good a lot, lets raise it up!

I think the fold is fine, I think it's probably even good. I wouldn't get in the habit of doing it, but even the comments about how you shouldn't "sigh-fold" I think are a bit silly. I've certainly been known to "sigh-fold" air on the river to make some ABC player think I had it vs them and I now know they got there vs me when really I never had it. I've also turbo mucked when I was strong to make it seem like I missed. I've even added the "fine, I missed" comment while mucking something strong. I don't think many people are going to see this hand play out, be paying enough attention to the exact action and reactions of the players, continue to think about the hand to the point where they make the correct deduction that JDR had stronger than AQ, AND then think he folded it. First off, most people will think he probably "wouldn't fold that strong" and secondly most people at 40/80 are aware of the amount of bull****, lying about what hands we had, pretending we had X then we had Y, etc, so you have to take it all with a grain of salt anyway. Finally... its 4 handed, so only 3 people could have even seen this hand take place, if they weren't busy texting or playing games on their phone or watching TV.

FWIW, I think you're right, JDR, that vs this guy who is checking back the flop a good bit that you should 3bet KK preflop. But whatever, not a big deal.

One more thing. In villain's shoes the correct bluffing frequency is vanishingly small. Our value raising range here, as many of you have pointed out is extremely small and the pot is extremely large so it is correct to almost never bluff. Just a note for all who think most ppl under bluff this spot drastically (some under bluff it for sure but never drastically)

Can I suggest a 1000 hand challenge either online or live? So much variance heads up limit even 1000 hands doesn't prove much unless one player is just awful. But please record it in some manner would be fun to see one person run like god and the other lose they mind and all their chips.
