Planning on joining the 20/40 games at my local casino but instead of gambling I really wanna give it a shot on becoming what I always dreamed ... A Winning Player

Here's what I got in the cart so far

Winning low limit hold em By Lee Jones
Middle limit hold em poker by Bob ciaffone
Advanced limit holdem strategy by Barry tanenbaum
Power holdem strategy by Daniel Negreanu

Anything else I should ad

Thoughts on poker math books

You know, Ed Miller's SSLH is better than Lee Jones'. Also most start at lower stakes than 20/40, not that that there's anything wrong with starting at 20/40.

It's called "Small Stakes Hold 'em: Winning Big with Expert Play" by Ed Miller, David Sklansky and Mason Malmuth.

Thanks guys you have been helpful

The first two books I'd read are SSHE and Winning in Tough Hold'em Games, in that order. I liked the Barry Tannenbaum book but didn't find the others helpful. (Caveat: I read these all in 2008-10 and they may not have aged that well).

Thanks rodeo, that's the one. OP, also, and i know you know this already but

bankroll, bankroll, bankroll. 300BB+ would be my advice, not that you need it.

I've become more strongly against poker books over time. Only good ones on limit that I've read are the Phil Newell ones and Sklansky's Theory of Poker (which is only partially about limit). (And Mathematics of Poker, if you can understand it. )

Read the 2+2 archives. You will seriously get much better advice here than you will get in the books. Even SSHE has a boatload of not so great advice in it.

I agree with this but I'd add that stox' book was pretty good and would still have a lot of helpful information for lower and mid games

I would delete this entire cart, unless you have a time machine. By this I mean that Bob & Jim's book was written for a different time. The Lee Jone's book was for beginners in a really different era of soft games. Etc.

Buy this. Realize that some of the more passive advice is dated, unless you're playing in amazingly soft games -- so if the book says to open limp in spots, question that advice. Don't have a copy, but people have quoted such advice on the forum.

Look at you in your big boy britches telling the mods what to do. The gods of the limit subforums may look upon your pompous Canadian ways and smite you
