I guess I am officially an internet celebrity now, and it's really creepy and depressing and lame and I wish this didn't happen tonight but it did and I guess some of you will find it funny so I'll tell it.

I'm leaving the Hustler Casino about an hour ago, 3:30am L.A. time. I am taking a brisk walk through a very dark parking lot on my way to my car. I smell the distinct aroma of ganja coming out of a nearby car and I notice two dudes sitting in the two front seats obviously smoking out. I cruise by the car since it's along the same aisle as mine, and just as I'm walking past it I hear from inside the weed car:

"Are you private joker?"
I stop in my tracks and look back at the guy.
"That's your nickname, right?"
"Um, yeah. How did you know?"
"I read the forums. You play limit, right? Limit holdem?"
"Yeah. But how did you recognize me?"
"I saw your picture posted somewhere once."
"Ooookaayyy.... so what's your screen name?"
"Oh I don't post. I just read it sometimes. Yeah I thought that was you."
"OK well... that's a pretty good photo memory you got I guess."
"You just finish playing?"
"Yeah."
"Yeah we're just sittin' in here smokin' out. You want a hit?"
"No thanks I gotta drive home."
"Cool... yeah I just had like 20 bucks left in my pocket but I ran it up to 330 in there... at a NL table..."
"Great. Way to go. I gotta go, see you guys later."
"Alright, private joker."

Jesus Christ, who is out there memorizing my internet photos and looking around poker rooms for me? What did I ever do besides post far more often than I should, lock and delete some bad threads, and win a few sessions over the years?

I'm considering hunting down and deleting every photo I've ever posted of myself on the WWW. I mean he was a nice guy and everything, but seriously.

we have an internet celeb in our midst, folks

Who wouldn't offer PJ a hit? C'mon. (not that I do that stuff (anymore))

That's what happens when you post photos of yourself at the playboy mansion.

After a week of crushing the Borgata limit games....Live poker just got to me today.

I've never really experienced anything like the tilt that came over me as I decided to "donk around" in the 20/40 game (I've been playing the 40 game mostly). Cold-calling everything, chasing gutshots, hopelessly c/r bluffing rivers. Finally after a hand where I opened K7o from UTG+1, I decided enough was enough. Thankfully, the total damage was less than 25 bets.

I suspect the cure to this super-tilt is to not play live poker for a couple of days. But screw that. I'm determined to be a disciplined human being and get through it on my own. Wish me luck please.

good luck boc. I think if you want to donk around in a game you should cut the limit you're playing by more than a factor of 2. Sometimes to blow off steam I go back to my roots and play 6/12 like a maniac over a couple of beers. Very soothing.

mhig on K7xxx board

if I were better at poker I would've value bet the river

I think I recognize this guy. Or he may look a lot like all the other morbidly obese Italian guys from NY that play NL.

I would've taken the buffet...

I think by end of October you will have more posts than me unless you ban yourself again...

so i played live 20/40 last night and managed to win 20 bets without ever 3-betting preflop, just a whole slew of limping and cold-calling for me. if they can beat me playing like that, i will give them a taste of their own medicine! bakku was confused as i kept on raking in pots.
08-01-2008 , 05:48 PM
Haha, awesome story PJ. You're the only 2p2er I've recognized when first meeting.

since july thread got locked right after i posted this, gonna repost it:

so just played a session with CDC where he raised PF maybe 5 times the whole night, never 3-bet or capped PF but he somehow managed to still play like 35-40% of his hands.

after he open limps for like the 3rd hand in a row there is a raise as usual and he goes "god why do they keep raising me?"

"i can play as badly as i want PF and i'd still destroy this game"

of course after min-buying twice, short buying once, then finally giving in and buying in for 7.5bb he proceeds to win a bunch of monies

I thought the 3 Stooges were long retired, but apparently not because I saw them at Bay101 today. This was the goofiest hand I've played in a while.

Fishy, erratic player limps UTG, 40/80 prop limps in MP, I raise AJ in LP, cleared out to the 3 of us.

Flop is AT5
UTG checks, prop bets earnestly in a way I don't like and I don't have a good read on how he plays so I call.
UTG c/r's, prop 3-bets, I decide there's no way I'm folding and I want to showdown cheap so I put the fear of God in everyone and cap and they both insta-call.

Turn is 3
Checked around.

River is J
UTG instabets, MP thinks a while and calls, I raise, UTG instacalls, MP sighs, flashes AK to his neighbor and folds.

UTG shows A3. Ship it to Moe, Curly!

Why didn't you just say no, wrong guy, I'm Mos Def and offer him a autograph. You are practically the spitting image of Mos except I think your nose is a little bigger. If I were you I'd be tell everyone I was Mos and just punk people left and right. Esp. when you play in LA, dude, it would be so easy.

Learning Stud and Omahaha8 have been awesome. I'm haven't taken small stakes this seriously since I first started playing poker.

All at Wynn 10
My first...

Good value bets:
-4332 on K983Q turn and river
-AA54 on Q9975 all 3 streets 3 way.

Good preflop laydown:
-Nit 3-bets Matusow, I fold AJJ3. Nit shows AA2T, ldo.

Monster draw that misses(this is why I never complain about missing a "monster draw" in LHE)

Preflop:
1 limp, I limp A2T9, 3 more limps, SB calls, Matusow raises in BB, All call.

Flop: 37J
SB checks, Matusow bets, Nit raises, Hero 3-bets, Lots of folds, Matusow calls, Nit calls.

Turn: 7
I check behind.

River: T
Nit bets, I fold.

How gnarly is this hand...

Commerce 40. I open JJ. Folded to the SB, a standard LAG Asian, who 3-bets. BB folds, I 4-bet. SB calls and checks dark. I bet dark.

Flop QQ7. He calls and checks dark. I bet the turn dark.
Turn 5. He calls and checks dark. I decide to wait and make sure the river isn't an A before betting.
River 3. I bet and he raises. I decide he isn't bluffing so I fold.

This wouldn't be a good bad beat story if he had a queen the whole time, so guess what he flashes me -- 33.

Then I got set over setted (he turned the 2 outer), lost with another JJ to a 2-outer, then lost to a 3-outer with a dominating hand, and before I knew it I was stuck 3 racks.

An hour later I was even again because I ****ing rule. Actually I left a $140 winner when I thought I'd leave down 3k. Poker is silly.
