I play with a guy like that on a regular basis. He plays like 3 day sessions and sleeps between hands. He's awful but insanely lucky and has like 40k in recent jackpot scores.

Anyone else transitioning to NLHE this year? =D Spent the last month managing 3 servers running sims and finalizing solid ranges for nl the same way we did lhe.

Should be an interesting vegas trip + year

**** no. I play poker for fun, and that isn't fun.

But there is a forum for you! http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/60/limit-gt-nl/

If money is your primary interest and you don't live in close proximity to San Jose, there's really no competition between LHE and NL.

I am a week and a half into taking NL seriously... just going through the Upswing Poker lessons and playing lots of 100 zone.

Is Upswing useful? I presumed it would be mostly pretty basic stuff.

It make sense if you only play online but otherwise it's surprising you guys would focus on NL rather the mixed.

Just randomly looking at bravo now the available games are 5-10 NL or 2-400 mix in LA

2-5 or 75-150 at parx

It's designed to get us to a point where we are soundly beating 1/2 NL on Stars which isn't actually very easy nowadays. From what I understand, a 1/2 Stars crusher would be a winner in most higher stakes live games/MTTs. But ya, the emphasis is def on sound fundamentals. Doug Polk himself admits that Run It Once is better suited to 2/4+ online players and that Upswing Poker is probably too basic to be useful for mid-high grinders.

I definitely only want to play online as I hate, hate, hate live. If I ever get both rich and quite good at NL, I might go bracelet farming in the distant future. But other than that, screw live poker.

The barrier (which may not be a problem for avoidthe9to5) is that there's no mix games ladder, you have to enter at a pretty high level.

There's an NL ladder and even 2/5ish stakes is enough to survive short-term; you can move up to 5/10 and 10/20-10/25 as you see fit.

With the commentary work I do w\ LiveAtTheBike + the students I work with NL has massive value for me outside of just grinding as well~

My plan is:
NL -> PLO -> Mix

nearly done w\ nl

I've played 5-10 NL few enough times to count on one hand, but I've never really been that impressed with the game quality.

I'd figure PLO is far more vital to learn, because those games are almost always better.

I guess my question is whether you are finding it valuable, or if you think that the fundamentals it focuses on are too elementary for someone who has given some thought/study to NLHE but has mostly focused on the limited hold 'ems.
