I don't think it has as much to do with outrage as it does with maximizing the amount of raked hands that depositors play before going broke. Obviously that involves incentivizing game starters sufficiently, but that's all they really need pros for. The greater the disparity in winrates, the less money that is raked.

He should have AA a lot here and can easily have QQQ lots.

Should and does are very different, though . Like I think a ton of my range here is split Kings or hands like KhQhJh that just caught a pair of Queens, but who knows what these guys are thinking at this stake.

As you mentioned, the stakes may play a role in his decisions. Jon pegged his value hands. He could also be looking for a free card on 5th (with a hand he prob shouldn't have played on 3rd if that's the case). Either way, I'd prob just call.

Well, I was there tonight, getting bent over as usual. After the pounding was over and the game broke just I got to my lowest point of the night, obviously, I cashed out my meager remaining chips and went to the shift manager desk and asked.

As posted in the Arena thread, it appears you are right about the change Jon.

Dec-April, the rates are (currently) $139 Su-Th, $189 Fri-Sat. May-Nov rates are $99 all week.
I will say those rates don't seem all that great either in or out of season, but the location can't be beat. I'll have to actually check comparable rates next time I'm booking, and will consider it for next year I suppose. I still have a bit of a grudge against them, but don't want to spite my own face, as it were.

60/120 at National Harbor, 5 handed, donkey opens, hero calls Ac3c in BB. Flop Jc5cJd, I ck/call. Turn Qh, ck/ck. River Qs, I bet, villain says I pay you off, throws his chips in.

Shows me his 66!

And you thought poker was dead 2017! NC/LC THREAD! let us gogogogo

Story would be better if villain was actually beat and it was the hero call of a century.

How are there people who can't read the board at 60?

Was that a value bet with your ace high, or a bluff?

Re: 2017! NC/LC THREAD! let us gogogogo

I donít recall any discussion here about MGM National Harbor, so hereís a brief synopsis from my recent visit. Bravo says 60/120 LHE starts at noon on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday. On Friday, I showed up a few minutes before noon and got a seat immediately, just as the game was starting. There was no kill on but apparently sometimes there is, some players wanted to add it later but the fish was stuck and didnít want it. Generally a friendly crowd, pretty sure Iíd played with one of the good players in Black Hawk or at Bellagio. Time is $7/down, they did a time flop, if you wanted to buy out then one of the guys at the table took your $7 and your seat. Player pool was surprisingly weak for a game this big. Example: we had a round of straddles going (3rd orbit!), and it folds to the button who calls. Definitely some strong players but the aggression was quite a bit lower than I had anticipated, they all probably thought I was ****ing crazy.

General: the casino was very nice, lots of high end shopping and nice restaurants. Prices didnít seem too bad for food-I got a pretty huge sandwich for $12, not sure how much the enormous crabcake was because I had comps to cover it (didnít even need to sign for it, kinda weird).

Parking: huge garage, I did not valet.

Other poker: There is no ladder to 60 so be prepared to play other games. Of course lots of NLHE but also PLO and 5-card Omaha Hi. Perhaps most notable for this forum: when you see mixed on Bravo, i.e., 10/25 mixed, that does not mean 10/25 NLHE/PLO mix, as I had anticipated. Itís a fixed limit/big bet mix. Iím a little fuzzy on the details since I didnít play but one of the 60 players told me they play 150/300 (or 100/200, it varies?) limit games (badugi, 2-7, stud/8, not entirely certain what games are played or if it varies with line up) and 10/25 PLO. When I got there on Friday a 25/50 mixed game was running overnight, it was 300/600 limit games + 25/50 PLO. There might be more info in the MGM NH thread.

Finally, you should probably ignore the noon start time for the 60 game. On Sunday I got there at 11:15 and the game was already running, and I was 4th on the list. When I left 8 hours later not a single name had been called for the main game. We did get a 2nd table running a few hours later but it was never full and got short (=< 5 players) within a couple of hours. There is some group list that is used to arrange the game which presumably tells everyone the start time, so try to get there early or risk getting shut out.

Thanks for the tip on the Mix. I had no idea they were playing those games.

The guy you recognized from CO may be Chase, as he used to live and I believe worked in at least one casino there.

Sure thing.

No, not Chase, I know him (and know his 2+2 name), he was playing some tournaments at Live, he could probably give you better info about the mixed games. I didn't know this guy's name, just someone who looks familiar.

He'd have to be extremely fishy to think about 3 betting. Against anyone competent you need to improve, even though all his cards are dead.

Overall, not a bad video but I think 3 betting 22 button vs. cutoff is going to lose money.

It's weird he mentions 3 bet or fold preflop because the only time I've ever played with him he cold called my middle position raise from my direct left. Tournament adjustment I guess?

Re: 2017! NC/LC THREAD! let us gogogogo

Lost a fair amount of money to Greg Raymer last night by being dumb enough to open J7s UTG 5h in 40/80 mix.
Surprisingly, he chose to coldcall A9s from SB and flopped a flush, whilst I flopped top pair and rivered a straight.

Still ended up winning 3 racks tho (first 40/80 mix outing).
Need to work on my Stud-8 game.

Nice work. I am sad I can't make it to cp until tomorrow night and by then his nitfish money will probably be long gone.

He's staying through the MSPT so I imagine you'll have more chances at his money.
I'm pretty sure I'll be there tomorrow night, probably playing 20 if it runs. Mayyyyybe the mix again, haven't decided.

Cool! I'm stopping in after my overtime shift tomorrow and gonna grind a bunch this weekend. I will remember to bring my headphones though as I watched him on poker night and he never stopped talking about inane things. I would hate that...because usually it's my job.

I have to crank out Ray Zee's book. So far, I'm liking O8 way more than Stud 8. Even if I do seem to have 0% equity 6 ways on 54J - K while holding AQ32

Despite not having a ton of O8 experience I feel like I grasp it fairly well and am understanding hand values. Also 9 river obv. all but guaranteed.

I also think I understand stud-8 to a decent degree, in theory, but in practice I end up playing some hands that I shouldn't for too long.

Once I had a guy take the line of:
cold call 3 bets/call
Cold call 2 bets on K93r
Cold call 2 bets on 7 turn
Call River 2

And show down Q998. Turned out my AK43 2s luckboxed into an emergency low!
