commerce offers a platinum card that when presented allows you to never pay blinds or antes or bring-ins in any game in the casino. you could use this card for an entire month. how much would this card be worth on the open market, and how much would you pay for it?

do your blinds and antes and bringins still magically appear in the pot from thin air? if not, most of the value is from the entertainment in breaking games.

Or watching as everyone tries to grab the seat on your left.

Decent thought experiment. In 6 max Lhe I lost around 0.25 bb/hand in the big blind and 0.12 in the small blind. So even if we just make those positions worth zero we increase our winrate by over 6 bb/100. Which is insanely huge. I could probably beat live 40/80 Lhe for 300 an hour with your magical card

Also why are we still paying rake with this magical card?

Because commerce wants their money still, duh

Heading to SF / Mountain View for work in a month. which casino is my best bet for 20/40 - 40/80 LHE? Most likely will be playing Sunday aft/evening and possibly a weekday evening....Does not look like any of the bay area casinos are on Bravo ap.

Bay 101 by a large margin.

On Sundays "large margin" means an infinite margin because there are no other regular LHE games that big.

Oaks has 30/60 on weekdays but Bay is closer to Mountain View and has more games. Artichoke Joe's also has 20/40 but not sure what the schedule is.

Yup, and it's illegal in San Jose to pay comps so there's no need for Bravo. Also, the high limit side takes call-ins for the list.

Vegas? Rumor has it I'll be making an extended stay this summer. Who all is going =O
04-17-2017 , 10:49 PM
I'll be donating for a few weeks. Most likely mid June and beginning of July.

Not better for you to stay in LA while those guys are in Vegas?

Last year seemed like 80 went a lot but didn't see a lot of 1/2 or higher during my trips.

Trying to figure out when to go. All the tournaments I want to play are spread apart.
04-18-2017 , 09:58 PM
Obv go for all of it then
04-18-2017 , 10:35 PM
I did 6 weeks last year, idk if I can do it again.

Attention PHX Lagtards:

I will be visiting your fair city this weekend, and hope to get at least one night (Thurs, Fri, or Sat) to play some 20-40. If you see me, please say hello. If you enjoy a frosty beverage, I'd be happy to join you for one.

I wish I could be more specific on time, but I refuse to stay in TSR any more, and will be hanging out with other friends most of the weekend, so I'm basically just guessing at this point.

Anyway, hope to get a chance to meet some more of you, should anyone be around.

Last time you visited I had my worst one time session ever. I believe it was $3998 loss at 20/40. Just barely missed that 100 bet loser due to me not throwing my last 2 $1 chips to the dealer on the way out the door.

I recall you had a bad experience or something but the poker rate is the best hotel deal in the valley and it's not close. It actually me be closer in the summer but it's certainly a steal during spring
04-19-2017 , 04:20 PM
The poker rate is a good deal if you get it. Not so good if they offer it to you, you play all day and then they charge you full price, which is what happened to him and others.
04-19-2017 , 05:12 PM
yes and thats unfortunate as it was never guaranteed in the past when casino was near full occupancy. Fortunately they have improved their policies and pretty sure poker rate is guaranteed now as long as you play minimum hours and dont book the hotel through a 3rd party site (but dont quote me on that).

Just want the info out there in case people vist so they can save a few hundred dollars.
04-19-2017 , 06:20 PM
How much is the poker rate anyway? Usually when it starts getting toasty outside the mega-resorts (Pointe, Biltmore, etc) drop prices into the $60-$80 range.

Could be good. I still wish you could put yourself on a list for a full game, or even know that a full game exists, even if you can't watch it.

Since it seems to be starting a lot of new games for players, maybe they could ask you how many players you want to start a new game, like some live card rooms do.
