Weird Spot with No Pair

Game is Commerce 40. A self taught asian guy open limps up front. He's not good, but he's not terrible. People like him running around all willy nilly are a big part of the reason the games just aren't as amazing as they used to be. His range is sorta what you'd expect; small pairs, suited connectors, maybe off suit broadways, etc. I raise it up with AKss, and we see a flop along with the loose passive big blind.

3 players, 3+ big bets

743r

They check. I bet. They call.

3 players, 4.5+ big bets

743r-Jc (putting two clubs)

The big blind checks and the limper donks. I have presented this hand to two players I greatly respect, and they disagreed. What say you? And if you're not folding, what's your river plan? Remember, I'm not even closing the action and the big blind could be slow playing a monster.

Re: Weird Spot with No Pair

From what I'm thinking there's $130 in pot pre, $190 after flop, and with the donker your getting 40/230 along with (let's say a 50-50 chance of BB calling) so 40/250. At this point I'd say you have 3-5 outs, can't really see a call on river even on a blank, so I would fold. If an A or K come on river (if you call and want to look him up/polarize range) I would probably raise regardless if HU or 3way and fold to a raise.

fold. the J is a pretty bad card and you're not closing action. maybe the guy is donking a turned draw but usually not imo. if he'd give up the semibluff on the river it's closer.

*** it, I'd probably muck it. The donk into two when a broadway hits, not closing the action, small-ish pot = fold.

Re: Weird Spot with No Pair

I suspect raise can be the right answer here if he's not married to the concept of showing down a J, which might be more possible given he's self-taught.

Is this a totally standard flop c-bet on this board texture? How about if it was a non rainbow flop ?

Re: Weird Spot with No Pair

i think the ev of calling in this spot is close to the ev or folding.. so people could argue either way. at game speed this is the worst hand I call with

also, what is your check back range on that flop?

This looks like a fold to me, as in why is this even a question?

Do you have any math to back this up?

Re: Weird Spot with No Pair

haven't read responses here so this may make me look retarded...but...why did you post this? i don't see anything even remotely questionable (maybe flop cbet but even that i'd make a vast majority if not all the time vs. players described and decide how to proceed on turn). this is a supereasy turn fold imo.

Grunch

You need 6.67:1 to call and like you said he could be slew playing so you might even be dead in the water but seeings that you're not even getting that your call is razor thin and we can only callfor one bet only so yeah muck it.

Re: Weird Spot with No Pair

Donking a draw doesn't seem to bad here given that everybody folds A high.
