Weird flop spot

I open kt in the lowjack. Someone I've played with for 4 hours without seeing him coldcall or limp cc the sb flop j96r. He chks I chk. My plan is to call turn fold river unimproved with this hand.

Re: Weird flop spot

But what else have you seen him do? 3b here pf?

I think he's most likely to have a small pp without any other reads, and I just always bet at least twice in your spot.

Well that's one of the two options. Why do you think he would he have a small pair?

how much does he like to check raise flops? I would really like to draw as cheaply as possible in this spot so if we have good reason to believe flop can go bet-call, I prefer doing this and checking back turn to see the river for one sb. I listened to your video about checking back flops and utilize this strategy quite a bit, but cannot see how this spot fits.

Re: Weird flop spot

With nothing else to go by, I have to assume he 3bets most playable hands in this spot, and just CCs small pairs hoping to get BB to call... idk, I just think that's how cold-callers here think.

This is the commerce 60 game. He's 3betting all pairs.

Armor, he's basically a tag so quite frequently I'd guess.

Re: Weird flop spot

I think you have too much fold equity and implied odds equity not to keep betting.

Re: Weird flop spot

I think he has AA. Can probably just fold turn UI and let this 2.5BB pot go.

Re: Weird flop spot

People call their sb with a really wide range in the 60. I'd be tempted to bet this flop purely for value and the fact that our hand does fine without the initiative on the turn. Are you betting 88 on this flop?

In this very specific case probably not. If I hadn't seen him raise/fold preflop every other time he's had this decision things would be different.

Maybe he is just calling with a pair like QQ for balance.

Re: Weird flop spot

I don't think 4 hours of live full ring or close to full ring is enough sample size to get a handle on someone's sb play. I would just bet here.

Even if he had a narrow sb cc range I would still bet flop if his flop c/r was unbalanced to made hands. If not check is fine.

If you check flop calling turn bet/folding river unimproved seems to me suboptimal. I would just fold to the turn bet. I think it's the best vacuum play and long term he is not going to be able to exploit that with his presumably narrow sb cc range. Pot is just too small.

But to reiterate: these are too many assumptions for me to have in 4 hours of live play, I would bet the flop.

obv hard to say with the limited info, but instinctively i like your flop check, and i would just fold the turn UI if he fired into me
