Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Whatever, I was all county in 95. 15 tackles for losses!
09-29-2015 , 06:47 AM
Now the only thing you tackle for a loss is your bankroll! Bazing! Hayoo!

got invited to do live at the bike commentary, think i'm going to accept =D should be interesting.
09-29-2015 , 10:20 PM
Does that mean they are doing another LHE show?
09-29-2015 , 11:23 PM
I would imagine, although I should have the capacity to commentate both I expressed a heavy interest in the LHE side. I'll be sure to reiterate my desires <3

That was an awesome watch the time I saw the 20/40 LHE with 2+2er Limon as commentator.

I've been thinking a bit about beginner's luck and survivorship bias lately. Basically, I think the latter explains the former.

Imagine (somewhat reasonably, imo) that some people start playing poker, and those who win keep playing, while those who lose quit. The people that keep playing, then, had atypically good initial outcomes. Later on, though, they're still going to (statistically) tend to have an average-quality run of cards. So the long-time players will tend to look back on their early days and remember that they used to be luckier than they are now (ie, they'll remember having "beginner's luck"). And they'll be largely correct.

I introduced a friend to fixed limit omaha 8 and on the first hand she made a wheel.

It's a real thing that beginner's luck.
09-30-2015 , 08:18 PM
Why can't beginners be so clueless that they don't realize how lucky they were and just assume that they were just inately good at the game? I'd bet a lot of players who eventually became good just assumed they were naturally smarter or better at games than other people and that's why they won

I do think the first time I played holdem poker, in a 1/2 limit casino game, that I was better than the average player there. I had at least read a book about it and knew which starting hands to play from a chart. Pretty sure most of the players playing in the smallest limit available anywhere hadn't done even that and that their postflop play was terrible as well.

Of course I still lost. I imagine my skill wasn't enough to beat the rake anyway.

Its ON! me and matt commentating live at the bike Oct. 15th
09-30-2015 , 09:11 PM
Who's Matt?

And what channel is this on?
09-30-2015 , 09:14 PM
Maybe Matt is avoifthe9to5? I don't know though.

Anyway, it's not on any TV channel, it's on the Bike website.

AFAIK you can only watch it live, and it is rare that I am able to do so, a big fluke last time that I caught it. If anyone has a way to record and put on youtube, or even better somewhere for us to download and watch anytime, that would be really appreciated.

It used to be up to watch until the next show got posted, so you had a few days. That may have changed though.

I think you can watch old ones if you pay $10/mo.

Is October 15th going to be LHE? I missed out on the last one.

its gonna be a deepstacked uncapped NLHE game as of now. we will have more limit games in the future if there is demand for it. i personally love limit HE but many dont see the nuances and and find it boring, arrrrrrrrrr in! and such....

Looking forward 9to5's visit to LATB. Hope you guys have fun. Hopefully you introduce him as a random drunk you found in the parking lot and don't reveal his secret identity as one of the LHE end bosses.
09-30-2015 , 11:45 PM
I think you guys should playimit Holdem like we used to in a home game. Everyone sits 100 bets deep and you are not allowed to call a river bet. Watching somebody 37 bet and folds to the 38 bet is fun

Hi everyone, none of you remember me but I used to do a fair bit of the Texas gamblin.

As a high priest limit disciple meta master, have any of you found good books/coaches/whatever to transfer to NL? Last I remember, and it was years ago, any time I talked to a "good" NL player they would show me stuff like "lolool this guy just stacked off with middle set!" and I'm like, so you were bluffing? and they didn't have a very convincing answer to "how do you make money in a game where nobody is supposed to ever pay anything off ever?"

cuz i wanna play live but casinos around here only spread the 1-2 NL

PS Hi Harrison, hope all is well

love it. brutal.

another brutal homegame variation is on No limit holdem or PLO. if the players are all in you run the board twice but only use the second board. it sounds innocuous but it sends people into rage tilt. use sparingly.

Random, but it's amazing how much TV changes the perception of what is "interesting" poker to watch. Of course people are going to play a ton of hands in televised NL when they all have 200+ bb stacks and 2.75 bb in the pot w/ blinds and antes before any action happens.

I'll sometimes sweat a 5-10 NL game OL where people have 100 bb stacks on average, and it's paint drying level action.

Of course, if the Bike's 5-10 game is full of maniacs who stack off light, then I can see why people would enjoy sweating it .
