R/F River?

20-40

Game is brand new, this is the 4th or 5th hand and we are 6 handed. Hero in the cutoff with KdQh and opens.

Villan in the big blind has been talking about the recent bracelet he won. I've played with him before and he's good - aggressive and used to playing higher.

He 3 bets, I call.

Flop 2d5dQs

He bets, I raise, he calls.

Turn Ad

He check raises I call.

River Kc

I call.

Re: R/F River?

I'm probably not raising the flop. The action so far combined with the board texture lends itself well to just calling and raising a non-A turn.

As played, I think the turn/river are good.

Not sure there is a ton of value in a turn bet. I have a hard time seeing black 7s or K hi calling the turn, unless of course we are betting to induce a bluff. We also have a hand that doesn't mind giving a free card against most of his range.

Also agree with PJ about delaying our action to the turn. We are going to be peeling this flop with a huge portion of our opening range, lets protect it by delaying our value hands as well.

No way, we have too strong a hand + draw to not bet for value here. We want red JJ-type hands to call.

Yes, but I feel like a BB's range in this spot is very Ace heavy and we'll be faced with a C/R often. What kind of range are you putting BB on preflop?

I've played around with stove a bit and I think best case we're looking at around 60% equity on the turn, although its probably much closer to 55%.

Raising the flop against players like this on dry boards is a mistake. You're splitting your range and making their life easier. If you called, the turn would be close on this card. Might be an interesting one to do the EV out for.

Re: R/F River?

What if you would flat pre and raise the turn with 66+(including kk/aa type hands)

I think it's too blunt to just say you should raise turn with top pair to not make your range look unbalanced.

The turn, with the nut flush draw probably worth a bet, but you have to call down since a c/r can come from a number of hands that don't have an A. If you knew the guy a bit more it could worth it to check back.

I agree with waiting to raise the turn.

I disagree with checking back the turn.
