I think Gavin plays a bit spewy vs me in general, but we haven't played for quite a while.

Turn Th hero bets, BTN insta pops,SB folds, hero thinks about it. I mean, I really tanked a bit before I did anything, if it matters at all.

just call at this point, in future if you can 3 bet in motion (key), then do it.

However, I'd highly advise against doing it with Gavin esque types. Most likely, he is doing this with as weak as 99-88 but at this point he ain't folding imo.

Yep, agree... I think this is one of these rare spots where live tells have meaning. Since it is clear now (from Jesse's thread) that 3 betting is most likely correct here, I am wondering what you guys think about my opponents play. He 4 bets the turn which I now just call, lol and checks back a Jd river with QcKc.

Anyone think checking the river after a 4 bet from the button is absolutely nuts?

After the tank 3 betting in limit was silly.

Seems like a pretty standard turn 3-bet. I think Gavin is/should be 3-betting a lot of his value hands on the flop to push out SB, so I feel like his line is even more BS'y.

His play seems lol bad on the turn, is he trying to get you to fold a T?

I'm not convinced tanking some is a sign of weakness. I think it can be viewed as something like you debating whether you have enough value to 3-bet or just call down. I guess if you tank for a while, it might change things.

If there's such a thing as an easy 3bet bluff this has to be it.

I agree. I think Gavin pwned you on this hand. The turn tank followed by a 3-bet is horrible, unless you always take the same amount of time before 3-betting.

I saw Gavin play a hand very similarly to this one, where he 3-bet the turn with KQs, against QT on a 962J board, where the flop got checked through after the preflop raiser checked the flop, and then check-raised the turn, Gavin 3-bet, PFR 4-bet, Gavin called, and the river checked through, and Gavin won.

I like your cr unlike in the other 6 high post. I also like a 3b unlike the other hand. I say this because a) this is a blind defense hand rather than a posted hand in the other thread; there's different dynamics b) the other hand was a 3b pot pf c) we have more equity otf in this hand d) I like the 3b because I think this villain is the kinda guy who can fold a medium pp or strong A high hands vs you otr even if the scariest of cards (that don't improve you) fall because e) the villian in the other hand is probably more showdown bound (I would think) than GG here.

I don't like GG's play only because I don't understand why someone would cap ott with K high only to check back otr. I guess he's on to something that I'm not, isn't he supposed to be some kind of poker guru? ... maybe your "tank" produced a dynamic in order for him to play this way ... dunno.

Lesson: 'hollywood' before 3 betting ott with the nuts. It costs 10 extra seconds and can net you 2+ extra BBs.
