Re: Multiway semibluff with gutshot

I'm confused about the action...

But if everyone calls, I would think this is read dependent. Will button lay down pairs <ace, and face card hands here?

Default is call and see a turn here I would think...I dunno..I'm dogmatic about seeing showdowns here if im button vs laggy 2+2ers, including unpaired Q's and K's, but it doesn't sound like button is that type of player from your description.

Re: Multiway semibluff with gutshot

Wow, second post in one day that I can refer to CaptainR's bluffing thread:

"Try to limit your bluffs to 3-way at most" -
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/17...gelove-925701/

I really think that having two limpers AND the BTN is a little too much to hope this bluff will work. I peel the flop.

Agree with armor, I just call and try to hit on the turn.

c/r all day....depending on your image, you win this right on the flop like 1 out of 9 times. Hit the gutshot or a pair on the turn and bet for value, if you don't bet out and win a bunch too.

fire away.

if you are going to play 89o to a raise, start beasting.
(edit) flame away.

Re: Multiway semibluff with gutshot

I actually don't mind a raise here. It helps balance the fact that we check-raise an ace so often here when we want to price out the field, and since the SB has now folded, all we have to worry about are a c-bettor (with a wide range) and two fish who limped and checked (with very weak ranges). If one of the limpers cold-calls we don't have to bet the turn (unless a 7/8/9 falls), but if only the btn calls we can expect to bet the turn and win right there very often.

The pot already has 5.5 BBs in it when the button bets -- investing 1BB on a checkraise (with the equity we already have from our gutshot) is a pretty sound investment.

[BTW, it helps a lot if your image at the table is solid/TAG-nitty and you've been showing down premium hands and winners].

So now, if you don't get everyone to fold which will happen fairly often, are you c-betting turn UI ?

I think that c/r all ur gutshots and oesd's on this flop will be a little too much, especially since you will have 3b pf with a lot of your good aces in this kinda wide-ish range spot. I don't think the c/r is bad in a vacuum, but i would probably just call this and c/r the oesd's and some of the gutshots w bdfd or somethin like that.

Agreed. You can't compare a T87 board texture to A65.

Re: Multiway semibluff with gutshot

I like private joker's reasoning for raising, and at the same time we're getting a really good price just to peel. At game speed, I think I just call, hoping that overcalls sweeten the pot even more.
