His blog description is nothing more than taking a little literary liberty in his characterization of his villain. And, tbh, I rather enjoyed it.

I know a guy who has played poker "professionally" for years, but it seems like every other day he's chucking cards, slamming his fist (among other items) into the table, and attempting to sneakily, yet angrily curse and flick off dealers while giving them the death stare. He acknowledges and apologizes for his actions all the time knowing that it's highly illogical that any bad run is the dealer's fault (though not surprisingly, this mostly occurs when he's not losing). Yet, I think we can all agree, there's something fundamentally unprofessional and wrong about it in terms of poker.
I don't think these kinds of things preclude anyone from being a stand-up guy overall in life, but I do think it makes me doubt them at the tables. IMHO, it's just a basic concept, as much as folding 72o in almost any scenario is. And if you haven't figured that out yet, I think there's some other issue at play that should be dealt with away from the table.
Edit: With all that said, the getting barred from the cardroom is just plain dumb. This definitely does not qualify and his "friend" mikel should have pointed out as much when he found out the decision.

Re: May Low-Content Thread
Avoiding making mistakes is by far the best thing someone can do. I have no idea about Jesse, so I'm not saying this is him at all, but if anyone (again, NOT Jesse) repeatedly makes mistakes and apologizes for them, they are NOT a stand-up guy. e.g., the guy that prophet73 describes.

We have all heard the old saying, "bro before ho." I guess the new saying will be, "dough before bro."
I am with you in not understanding the whole thing. I am mostly perplexed as to why Jesse, who is no longer propping the game, would even be sitting at the Bike at 10 am slugging it out with the props while waiting for the spot in the first place.

Re: May Low-Content Thread
So I read this Jesse/MikeL thing. I am totally confused. Based on the story, it sounded like Jesse got mad when he shouldn't have, chased a fish off, instantly knew he'd done something wrong. Next MikeL was giving him some friendly **** about it which nonetheless had some real and justified annoyance behind it (yelling after him as he went to the cage, etc), then Jesse gave some MikeL some **** back via text. Now suddenly MikeL is getting him banned and Jesse is all like nothing will ever be the same. Okay, what step is missing here? At what point did this ribbing between friends become all super serious? The story, as told, just makes no sense to me.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Jesse isn't insane, nor is he vain.

Re: May Low-Content Thread
1. I quit march 3rd. In April
I logged over 180 hours (scans) at the bike and got $15/pop for them. That's why I quit mainly. The promo was worth 3/4th my salary
2. I shouldn't have tapped the glass but those of you preaching zen Buddhist **** should spend 7000 hours in my shoes before you judge me.
3. To say MikeL and I were close friends before this would be absurd. We never once saw each other outside a card room. I expected no allegiance from him, am not sure if he could have stopped it, and am not angry with him. We hugged it out.
4. Bike game will be dead by July
5. Yes, I barred

Re: May Low-Content Thread
I'm not perfect, not even close, and in particular I suck at politics and manipulating people and their opinions of me. I do things that offend people and I rib people. I have emotions, I just am a guy unfit for a 9-5 who is fortunate enough to have an alternative.
I am not a role model.

This is exactly what I mean though. Why do you have the mentality that your 7000 hours gives you some right to be annoyed or something? I have spent even more hours than that doing the same thing, among the same types. Yet my point is that I don't understand the defiant need to be offended or affected....by the same thing, same types! And especially because of the thousands of hours. At some point of your 7000 hours, you have to have noticed those annoying people (who are good for the game and your wallet) will always be annoying, so what's the big deal? There is a logical pattern there.
I totally understand that none of us are perfect. But there's an ocean between perfection and understanding this simple concept in poker.

I mean...you're right. I'd be better off if I could do it. There are lots of skills talents or abilities I bet you wish you had, also, that you'll never develop, even if you try for 7000 hours.

Re: May Low-Content Thread
jesse, prop question: if you are working and say hoss comes in and wants to play you HU, do you have to play? what about if 3 or 4 experts come in and want to play SH? i know the situation is improbable, but just curious how it works

Well, if you really think you'll never develop them, then it is what it is. I guess my point is that if you choose to play poker and know you're a legit long-term winner, then that's all the pride and comfort you really need in this field to stay grounded. I guess maybe I take for granted how thinking that way would make everyone chill.
But again, like I said, the getting barred part is just plain dumb.

Re: May Low-Content Thread
It's a byproduct of the live poker culture. There are very few role models. Everyone has moments where they feel entitled to be an *******, because they see everyone around them taking frequent turns being *******s.
And the reality of it is, everyone does have bad days. No one is immune from that. But to blow up in an ugly manner towards a fish and to cause him to rack up and leave...

Re: May Low-Content Thread
Im pretty sure that jesse left out plenty of details from the blog. Everyone can relax.
Anyway its probably a good thing you were 'yes, you barred.' the ship is sinking and you got off a little early, thats not so bad. The only thing that sucks about your situation is not getting to see cocktail girls/massage, and your scan...
