Keeping track of hands in disguise? 10/20 & 20/40

So I am at the point now where I am playing 10/20 and 20/40. However always trying to work on my game and having a long way to go I want to keep track of each hand. What cards I had, did I fold them, If I played them how it turned out. But at the same time I do not want to look like a total noob at the table writing it on paper. Any suggestions of an app that might be easy to use and fast so I can keep track of my hand and position while playing and able to view results later?

I admire your desire to improve your game, but there's no way around it...you're going to look silly if you're writing in a notebook after every hand, and I think people will figure out what you're doing if you type it into your phone. I think you're better off just posting interesting hands on this forum and getting feedback.

Make up hand histories that you think are interesting and run them by your friends, 2p2, yourself. Half the hands I post never happened or happened differently in real life. I find fake hands way more interesting because you can control more factors and you have less of a stake in the outcome. Plus there are no results to cloud things.

I try and keep 1-3 hands in memory from my sessions. The hand I butchered the most, a standard hand and a highlight hand (experiment, villain specific, big bluff?) And write it/them between a couple hands in my phone or at home after session.

I'm finding evernote to be quite good. Type it in your phone, have it on all platforms (desktop, laptop, tablet, etc). Organize and tag notes. Do some homework on a hand? Dump it back in the note from your desktop and now you can refer to it from your phone.

And its free.

I will have to check that out thanks. But you guys are right hard to disguise it. I usually remember the hands that involve something big happening. Like winning a huge pot, losing one , etc..

Re: Keeping track of hands in disguise? 10/20 & 20/40

Keeping track of too many hands (let alone stats etc') is hard, not effective and will prevent you from playing the next hand well. So yes, just take note of hands that you think are interesting, on your phone, using text editor of your preference. Most of the hands are standard so it's really about 2-3 "interesting" hands every 10 hours or so. Then after you look at those 2-3 hands "offline" after the session you will find out that some of those hands are in fact standard as well. Then post the remaining hand on 2p2. During run bad times, more hands will appear "interesting" than during "run good" period because during "run bad" period you will seek more "reassurance" from your poker buddies / authorities that you keep making right decisions. That's ok I think because it happens to me all the time

P.S. all hands that I posted so far where I took a bad / fishy line were a fruit of my imagination. They never happened. I didn't know that GM and OTR have a similar syndrom

I just type it into my phone notes. Usually you'll remember all the action long enough to get it all in there.

Try not to forget suits, too.

The story you are about to read is true. The cards have been changed to protect the innocent....

Print up a small scale hand chart like in Pokerstove so all you have to do is just X out what you were dealt. Then rather than an X you can put a H( for hearts), D(for Diamonds)...etc. once you get used to it. This can be rather small so it looks like a notepad and not some big note book.

Are you suggesting carrying a booklet of 13x13 grids (per hand) to record your starting cards which normally take 4 characters to describe?

I'm no expert but this solution is probably very far from GTO unless you are in the paper/ink selling business
