Re: June Low-Content Thread

There is a guy at CAZ who plays 3/6 who I always see carrying a chess bag and board around. I have never seen him playing anyone with it, but I guess I don't know if the casino would allow him to play at an empty table.

One day he was sweating or walking by our game when I was talking about backgammon with someone else about how I knew it was a game of skill but wasn't aware of proper strategy. He quickly jumped in saying he would play me for money, and then I asked about chess and he said the same thing. I then invited him into our 20/40 game and he said "20/40 is just like 3/6 except with red chips" to which I replied "No, 20/40 is just like 4/8 except with red chips"

Re: June Low-Content Thread

I've been playing a lot of golf last few weeks and am pretty bad, often shooting in the low 100s with the occasional mid. 90s at an easier course. Im tryin to book a bet with a friend That I can shoot a round at par or better within 18 months (course has a slope
Of 108) but we are having trouble coming up with a fair price. Obviously we agree that the larger the bet, the worse price I should get, but would love some input on what people think is a decent line.

Do you have a job? Do you live in the north? If the answer to either of these is yes, you have about a 1% chance. So you should get 99-1.

Is it possible to simply bet that you can beat him on a round in 18 months?

If you're making this bet with DD, forget what I've said and if you insist on making the bet anyway, chose your own course and practice like hell for the next 17 months.

The last month should be spent in prayer and consuming strong drink.

Re: June Low-Content Thread

yeah, do you have either immense natural talent left to be tapped or an enormous amount of free time?

if the answer to both is no, you have no chance. if the answer to one is yes you have a small chance.

if the answer to both is yes you are at best 50/50.

You're a massive dog even living in the desert and having no job. Like I can't imagine you have a 5% chance.

I'll probably play around 3 times a week and take lessons as well. I could play everyday but I wont be getting enough action to do so. I agree that I am a huge dog to do it, and was thinking I needed at least 25-1; however seems I may need to ask for more.

You should be practicing at least as often as you're playing. Do you love it? Can you see yourself going to the course and just chipping, pitching and working on your sand game for 4 hours instead of playing?

the fact that i BARELY fit into my "fat" clothes (i.e. 34/30 pants) just upset me too much. and i realize that's also along the lines of fat loss as muscle is denser than fat but again, 1 step at a time...as illogical as that may be lollll
hey, whatever works! also, losing the muscle is less of a big deal if you havn't been lifting for months to put it on, case in that cause you are reversing a bunch of hard won gains which sucks.

Re: June Low-Content Thread

Jon what course are you playing with slope 108? Continental? Makes a big diff if the bet is on a real course (I'd define real as 6000+ yards and par 72) or an executive course. I don't know of a single par 70+ course in Phoenix with such a low slope.

If you use my terms for "real course" I'll give you 12 months to break 80 at even money if you want...

LOLLL. i guess that's not as funny to you.

when i'm "in shape" it's all cardio. i have a naturally great muscle structure (or rather i used to be super active hockey, running, cardio wise and kinda kept that up over years...and when i lose weight you can see lots of muscle) but it's currently covered by many many layers of fat. i def don't have tons of muscle i've worked years on building.

do you know about what % of each pound i'm losing is muscle? b/c i'm on pace to lose quite a bit of weight and even if like 60% is fat, that's still a LOT of fat loss over 2 weeks. i can already see a change in my body and face so i know at least something is going on that's positive lol. i've lost 8.4 lbs in 7 days as of tonight (1/2 way done w/ the juice fast).

so if 60% is fat that's still 5.04lbs of fat and 3.36lbs of muscle. i ofc just pulled 60% directly out of my ass. do you have a more educated assessment of that %?

i mean what could weight loss be? there's water, fat, muscle, and what else? i guess most of it could be water but i have no idea and i'm drinking lots and lots o' water lol. this just ain't my area of expertise

The 10 stroke differences between 100-90, 90-80, and 80-70 are exponentially much much more difficult.

IMO: A guy who averages 100 is capable of having a random good round and shooting 85. Someone who averages 85 is incapable of shooting par.

Re: June Low-Content Thread

Silverado from the whites is 108. I think it's only like 5700 yards but it's what we plat at quite a bit. We can prob work sometHing out for the under 80 bet if talking stick counts as a real course (would it have to be from he tips or 1 up). Best round there to date is 104.

Re: June Low-Content Thread

Only problem with talking stick is they are par 70 and 71, if you want to make the bet "7 over par or better" I'm fine with that, for either of those courses the 1 up tees (gold I think they are) would be fine.
