Is it just me or is no limit just extremely boring?

Re: July Low-Content Thread

the way the hand played out it's almost reasonable to fold quads there, leading flop and betting the full pot on turn/river is absurdly strong

I think it is just much harder than LHE.... But yeah, it is also more boring "on average" because you play less hands. But once you are involved in the hand, it is not boring, because it is harder (well maybe unless you play short)

Re: July Low-Content Thread

Speaking of NL, let me get a quick line check. Was playing 5/5 with a friend last night. Very young Asian kid sits down at the table, it's his first hand, he opens from EP to 25. Gets two LP calls and I call in the BB with red tens.

976 black two tone

Asian kid cbets 75 into about 100, both coldcallers fold, I call. We both started with 500 stacks.

2 (putting up a second flush draw)

I check call a bet of 125.

7 (no flush)

I check, he bets 200, I fold.

If you are confident you have an edge in a game and youve had success at lower levels (1500+ hours at 1bb/hr at 20/40 and lower) how short a roll would you play a beatable 40/80? Expenses cost about 3k a month and you have no other income. If you bust it isn't the end of the world because you can live with someone/grind small stakes for awhile. I ask this because i feel I can beat bigger games and want to take a shot a making serious money before the games change or there's less money to be made. Id just like to get some of your opinions.
For what it's worth I have 20k and no debt.

TY. I can take credit for making her but not taking the photo. That is a pro shot.

I think you should fold the turn. This is true especially if this guy is any good and it sounds like he might be. This flop texture is a terrible cbet with overcards multiway so he has it here a large percentage of the time. Your outs carry very little implied odds since any improvement 4 straights the board and the double flush draw makes that even worse since if he is double barreling he likely has a hand with decent equity. As played, I would consider donk betting the river if the front door FD gets home and you think he can fold an overpair but as a default I would not stack hang against an unknown. I am not a fan of trying to get guys to fold big pairs until I know they can and they know I almost always have it when I lead the river.

If all you have is 20K and your living expenses are 3K/month, you don't have a 20K bankroll; you have a 2K bankroll. You shouldn't be playing higher than 3-6.
