It's all over the place, so planning on a last minute room is probably a bad idea. Sometimes you can get a last minute room for under $80, sometimes $300, and sometimes they are sold out 3 weeks in advance. It's a nice place though and I think $150 is reasonable.

CAZ guys:
Chance of a LHE game above 20/40 Thursday thru the weekend this week?
If not good, what is the mix usually?

Also, deathdonkey or others with experience, is the Donovan's in Phoenix comparable to San Diego?

I'm sure you could get a 40 hold'em going at least one day/evening this weekend. And the mix can be all over the place, but I'll let those who have played it more recently than I speak on that.

I plan to play this Friday and Saturday and they usually seem to build a 40 lhe around me

Sure they will around this "old" white guy as well.

Thanks guys... just got curious because my first reaction when I heard about LHE in Colorado a couple years ago was that it would be badass to live near the mountains and have live LHE nearby. Because mountains and Colorado are awesome. But then I saw that Blackhawk is somewhat out in the middle of nowhere and visualized sliding off steep mountain passes on icy days and such and lost interest.

If you aren't doing anything in Denver, living in the mountains can be great year round. In addition to Blackhawk/Central City, you could try Rollinsville, Eldora, and Nederland. You have the ski area in Eldora. If you actually want to live in town, Golden is the closest suburb and could be less than half an hour up to the casinos. Denver is large, and most of us complaining about distance to the casino didn't pick our location based on proximity to gaming. If I were single and making a living gaming, I'd pick my favorite mountain location in a heartbeat. I've worked in the data storage industry the majority of my professional life, and I live where I live based on where those jobs were.

That said, you can't really compare here with playing at Commerce. Making a living off 1-2 tables that don't even run 24/7 seems strange.

Have not been to the phoenix Donovan's but there are lots of solid steakhouses here to choose from. Introduce yourself if you are at Caz and see me!

You want to be badass but are scared of mountain passes and icy days?

I mean think of your profession if you had to do it a hundred years ago, all you math guys would be polishing your sidearm working out the most efficient way to manoeuvre your pistol target to target in the event of a shootout.

Oh and it turns out I actually do have an account at this time sink.

5-handed 20/40

Loose passive limps, weak tight limps, hero completes K4o in SB. TAGfish raises BB, limpers call, hero folds.

Standard?

I fold it the first time, and if I'm not sure, I post the question in the small stakes preflop questions thread.

Didn't know about that thread. Thanks!

I hope thats not standard because I would almost certainly call there. I could be wrong though.

If you're in the BB and it goes raise/call/call are you calling with K4o? I'm not, which was my logic for folding. But I always complete the SB with it.

I sense a leak somewhere, I'm just not sure where.

you did fine, but this is a decision that really doesn't matter much.

Totally different. The cold calling ranges are way stronger than the limp along ones.

BB raising range also tends to be stronger than other position ranges. You know, because people raise to "get people to fold". A lot of noobs will raise AQ from other positions but not the BB.
