EP - Fun rec who limps a lot of stuff.
BTN - 85/5 type, plays ABC post, currently complaining about how bad he's running nonstop. Major league tellbox with all of the classic tells (like knowing a bluff will work 100% if a flop has 2 spades and the board bricks out, and he reacts, talks a ton when strong, etc).

Hero holds AK

EP limps, BTN raises, I three bet, EP calls, BTN says "let's cap this up" and caps, we call.

Flop (13 sb): A43r (w/ 4)

I check, EP checks, BTN talks some more and bets. I just call, EP calls.

Turn (8 BB): 9

I check, EP checks, BTN continues to talk and bets. I elect to just call and collect an overcall, EP calls.

River (11 BB): T

I check, EP check, BTN says "let's do this one more time" and bets. I just call again.

Should clarify I'm in the SB in this hand, FYI (though I'd 3 bet from both blinds in this particular spot FWIW).

Fine imo. If you have A9 or 99 in your range might x/r river.

Btw- Tells can be a nice supplement, but I never trust them 100%.

Don't hate it but I would always be c/r the flop.

I'm probably donking the flop or turn a lot

With this line, you're essentially suggesting that his range is AA and AK.

Correct, and given what a player like this "should" be capping with, it'd suggest more action is needed. I felt pretty confident that he didn't have any of the JJ-KK hands given some live reads though, so from there it's kind of a guessing game regarding whether he's spewing or not.

i think im donking flop versus the "lets cap this up" range. if he raises you at any point you can just call down.

kind of a similar result in bets earned compare to OP's line but we benefit from the times BTN decides to check back the TT-KK range and we accidentally give a free card to both players and lose value

i was just thinking i'd c/r flop and take my medicine afterwords, but think this might be a better line to take. i feel like i don't experiment enough with goofy lines vs terribad players.

Even if you give him that range, don't you want EP out or at least make him call 2? Serious question, I don't really know the answer.

check/calling the flop is worse than checkraising and donking
