a few years ago, people weren't nearly as showdown bound as they are now so it made sense to try to get people to fold. if anything i'm cashing in on my previous image because nobody folds anything to me anymore because everybody thinks i'm some sort of spew-monkey when, if anything, i am pretty weak-tight nowadays. if you're starting out and playing live, it can be pretty boring to sit there and fold 80% of your hands, so it can be pretty easy to drift off. but as long as you are sitting there, you might as well make the most of your time and pay attention, to the action, to the players, and try to play along. it will help you think about the game better, get better reads on your opponents and keep your mind sharp when you actually do play a hand.

dunno if that answered your question or not...
Don't you think not betting/raising if you're not sure how to respond to a raise can lead to one playing too passively though?

Not spacing out is indeed important and it's easier said than done when you're 1tabling. I know in my last couple sessions I've picked off a couple river bluffs where I normally would've folded to seemingly passive villians just because I had noticed in previous hands that sucked at value betting on the end.

this is definitely true. I felt like I owned you for a while because your range always had too much air in it, but in the last 12 months or so I've just been paying you off all day. Now that I posted this you will probably try to bluff a lot again. But since I said that you won't. Ad infinium.

"You know that young Asian guy I'm talking about?"
"Yeah, what's his name. Casey?"
"Chris."
"Oh yeah, that's right. High variance game."

im not much of a HH reader, but how is this a HU hand?

also the hand in question is pretty ambiguous as it could easily be spew vs some opponents but just be plain solid value vs others. i think? chris was showing that he has a a good image

Hi Chris,
I like reading your posts. You always seem to be able to get to the heart of the matter in very short posts.

How do you feel about check raising unimproved A high for value in wide range situations?

co opens(30%-40%, raised the last six hands)

btn 3bets(probably very wide considering co image)

flop: 247r
co check raises, btn calls

turn: 7r
co bets, btn calls

river: J
should co bet AT for value?
