Hand vs. long time winner

I'm slumming in the 20HE since no one will take my money in mix ATM. I rarely play 20 HE (or even HE) anymore, so I'm a little fuzzy on how the regs play.

Moved to the main game I'm taking my first hand, in a kill pot where the HJ is a the killer.

UTG limps, another early position player limps, I raise two black Kings in CO. BB, a long time player and winner in this game, calls. The killer refuses to fold his kill for the first time in his life, early position players call.

Flop 6c4x2c. Checked to me, I bet, all call except Killer.

Turn 8d. BB leads, one caller, I call.

River 2x. BB leads, EP calls, I call.

Re: Hand vs. long time winner

Meh, I would raise/fold river. We can beat like a ton of hands. A8 87 8xcc and even 86 now.

And if this is who I think it is, he won't be 3betting the river as a bluff and will pay off quite a bit with a losing hand.

Re: Hand vs. long time winner

DC, what is rationale for not wanting to raise/fold the turn? Raising the turn gets value from any of the club draws, 8x combos, Ax gutshot combos, overcards and possible overpairs. Donk from V1 is weird, could be a straight or a lol-badly played set I guess, or 2 pair. I don't think standard villain in a 20 game will 3! the turn with two pair, so if you get 3! it is very likely either a straight or set and you can correctly fold. Any holes in this argument?

When you're fuzzy on the players/specifics, revert to the fundamentals. You have just about the top of your range, so raise the turn.

I raise turn, but can see your logic and pussification (spell check totally fine with that word). I get shown like 99 here a lot.

I cannot see how you're not crushing BB on the turn.

Re: Hand vs. long time winner

I agree you're way ahead and like I said I definitely raise. But DC's logic is something like "this guy wins and is good and I'm out of my element here". I ran into problems like this assuming MikeL could see my cards when truth be told he's just a guy who makes mistakes and misplays hands like everyone else.

I'm not saying you shouldn't raise the turn. But I understand.

If villain is good, he has 98s or 87s, Egg Zach Lee.

Re: Hand vs. long time winner

I didn't raise turn because I felt my hand was face up, same rationalization on river.

I felt overpairs (77+) should have 3 bet PF and/or C/R flop. I thought my equity was around 40% (w/20% going to draw), and if I get 3b it's a horrible spot.

He showed 99, so clearly my thought process was wrong.

The only thing that would have been more LOL is if he donked an Ace turn card.
