80/160 game, just got moved to a new table. BTN seems decent; BB is an expert waiting on a 200-400 seat; Hero's image is likely as a young brash nobody.

Hero in BTN-3 raises KK; BTN 3bets; BB calls; Hero 4bets; all call

Flop: A25r

Hero bets, BTN folds, BB raises, hero calls.

Turn: 6r

BB bets quickly, Hero calls quickly

River: 4

BB thinks for a couple secs and bets. Hero's original plan was to hope for a free showdown, or else quickly raise river as a bluff. The river now has Hero rethinking his plan, where all 3 options are on the table.

Folding sounds pretty good. You beat nothing and GL repping 78 or any 3 after 4-betting pre. I'm guessing our expert is(correctly) value betting ATs here or something.

I mean not 4 betting pre wouldn't have really made this easier but I never would have 4 bet pre. As played I think you are supposed to call and the bluff raise plan is pretty flawed.

Vs. tight 3!er and a tight BB I think calling is fine but capping is often better IMO if youre up against looser opponents.

In this hand I'd just call down

Bluff raising the river is really bad.

Yea since your taking this line and got to the river I would call. But honestly, folding the flop seems better dependant on your read on BB. This is AQ almost always.

This could at the Bellagio and wouldn't be a cap.

I mean this flop is terrible for your perceived 4 betting range (which people tend to assume is pocket pair heavy), so you really shouldn't be shocked that people will attack A-hi flops against you in this spot.

Folding flop for that reason against an expert is lol. Bluff raising the river is even more lol: I'm pretty sure whatever he b/f, you were beating anyway.

Re bluff raising river.

my standard play is to call down, especially since the pot is so bloated. My hope is that an expert will pay more attention to reads/metagame factors. Snapcall turn snapraise river looks really strong. I also like blocking two kings, meaning his Ax combos will be weaker on average. Is it to ambitious to think he can have and fold AT- here? I'm also thinking my line is pretty consistent with AK.

@DD. I disagree that 4bing KK made the hand difficult to play. The more questionable play is the flop cbet.

Huh? I specifically said the opposite. I do not think your line is consistent w AK nor do I think villain will fold AT+ even if he thinks you most likely have AK or he simply isn't very good. The ranges are quite narrow here this hand is just crazy to bluff raise

If anything you should be taking note of his turn snap bet. Also not sure how you're ever getting a free showdown.

I get a free showdown the times he gives up on his bluffs.

This is also how i would play AK. We're either way ahead or way behind -- makes sense to delay until river to potentially get an extra bet from his bluffs.

-given how showdown bound i appear and narrow ranges, i think folding is reasonable. In which case, isn't KK a reasonable bluff candidate, being top of my folding range and holding blockers?

I fold river and feel pretty good about it.
