amazingly, this chick:
- likes quality beer,
- loves rap/hip-hop (i was raised on 94-2000 rap and my iphone is predominately that + some later eminem, roots, black thought, jayz, and some rare newer stuff),
- she's v close w/ her family, has a sister the same age as my brother and her sis is her best friend (like my brother is to me).
- and SUPER importantly, LOVES skiing and goes as much as she can....but she's not very good. kind of a beginner (only does easy blues and greens). but beginner who loves it >>>>>>>>>> girls who would give me grief about loving skiing so much (like the ex did)
- also she's very outdoorsy and loves kayaking, white water rafting etc. basically all the stuff i like to do, if this works out i'd have a partner.
man, I could have been your girlfriend. Too bad I'm already engaged. Going up to SnowMass next week, following your recommendation a few months ago.... hoping for a good snow.

He's the Tim Tebow of basketball, but easier to like.

I still don't see him lasting long, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

lol. ty i think. i never know who is a guy or girl on this forum so i don't know if this is a "im a dude and could abeen your gf if i were a girl," "i'm a dude and literally could have been your gf," or "im a girl and i literally could have been your gf" given the stuff i listed is stuff guys are way more likely to fit than girls in general (thus why having a date w/ the cute skier girl was so refreshing).

trip report from date: went A+. she is so thoughtful and nice too! we were texting random things to kinda jokingly get to know stuff about each other and she knew im new to the area so she picked where/what we did for our first date. she picked a local bar and didnt' say anything to me other than "you'll like it." i get there, we hang out and a drink in a guy comes around and says "ok so are you two here for the trivia too?" and i look at her and she's sitting there smiling at me in this coy/cute fashion. she remembered that i said i liked jeopardy/trivia and picked a bar where we'd be doing team trivia. i don't recall a girl ever doing that for me on the first date. she was thoughtful enough to pick something she knew i'd like (very refreshing too!!) and we ended up having a really great time.

she had to go student teaching today and hiking tmrw (stayed over w/ her student teacher and friend) if it doesn't snow and we had scheduled a date for next wednesday. we ended up moving it to sunday afternoon since we didn't wanna wait that long before seeing each other again. reallllly rare to find a girl that fits all those criteria so i'm pretty excited.

you missed a third possibility, but nm that Nice report, sounds quite exciting for long-time-married dudes like myself... only watching what's out there on the menu, never placing an order.

Fantasy baseball time again, traditionally this was a SSSH league but I am live donk now so I'll crosspost it here. Will probably have a spot or two available. 2+2rs and LA poker players. $200 BI, roto, auction, 12 team. Paid out 50/30/20. Let me know if you want in.

He has a bluff catcher....

$20/$40 - Holdem - 9 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

UTG+1: $5,122.50
MP: $1,354.56
MP+1: $1,121.00
LP: $1,200.00
CO: $1,030.00
BTN: $860.00
SB: $1,809.00
BB: $1,258.00
Hero (UTG): $843.50

SB posts SB $10.00, BB posts BB $20.00

Pre Flop: ($30.00) Hero has Q K

Hero raises to $40.00, fold, fold, fold, LP calls $40.00, fold, fold, SB calls $30.00, BB calls $20.00

Flop: ($160.00, 4 players) 5 9 2
SB bets $20.00, BB calls $20.00, Hero raises to $40.00, fold, SB calls $20.00, BB calls $20.00

Turn: ($280.00, 3 players) 8
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks

River: ($280.00, 3 players) K
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $40.00, SB calls $40.00, fold

Hero shows Q K (One Pair, Kings) (PreFlop 64%, Flop 53%, Turn 68%)
Spoiler:

SB shows 4 3 (High Card, King) (PreFlop 36%, Flop 47%, Turn 32%)
Hero wins $357.00

On a serious note, I am not sure about correctness of either flop or turn lines I took...All villains are fish except LP cold caller that I have no read.

You guys are just bad at O8 then, sorry. A solid player doesn't call 2 bets on that turn with nothing in the pot without a boat, he has like no combos of TT he limps UTG, and if he had a naked 4 and has like A24J I am guessing he bets the flop, so he basically always has quads and JLocke sniffed it out. Not saying in the spur of the moment I could just check and fold the river or something but thinking about it now its pretty clear that bet/call is lighting money on fire to me.

So I've been blowing my brains out lately in the worst downswing I've ever had in my 4,400 hrs of live poker lifetime.

But for some reason -- even though at times I want to crawl in a hole and die, and feel/look miserable at the table -- I am comforted by two things: a) I've controlled tilt fairly well (only identified a couple rare instances of it); and b) holy **** do my opponents play badly. They give off tells, make hilariously unbalanced obviously exploitable plays, and simply don't even think or consider virtually anything outside of their own hand in a level 1 way. It's awesome.

Some cases in point:

* I open AK, BB calls. Flop TT2r. He donks, I call. Turn A. He checks, I check. River J. He bets, I call, he shows T9.

* I open AA, 4-handed pot. Flop KJ5r. I bet, BB c/r, I call. Turn 3d putting second diamond. He bets, I raise, he calls. River Td. He hitches and checks, I check back and lose to Kd4d.

* I raise OTB after two limpers with AhKc. Flop is JcTc6c. Checked to a horrible lagtard who donks into me. I raise, huge passive megafish cold-calls, lag calls. Turn 4c. Megafish sits up, looks at it, and shakes his head with a frown and checks. Lag checks, I check back. River 8h. Fish bets, lag folds, I cry-call and see his Ac.

* I open 99 in HJ, tight CO 3-bets behind me, BB calls. Flop QJ9r. BB donks, I raise, CO 3-bets, BB caps, we both call. Turn T. Checked around. River 3, checked around. CO shows JJ, BB shows T8o FTW, and I muck in third place.

So these many thousands of dollars I am down... I should really be down like 50% more.

If EP has 44xx then SB must have TTxx I guess?

First off, hang in there - all of us go through this and then it's over. I know that you know it, but still it helps to hear it yet another time when you actually experience a big downer.

And second, you should NOT be down 50%; you're down exactly as much as you are supposed to be - and that's exactly the point of being a winning player who game selects well. My coach used to tell me that bad players are either not getting enough value when ahead or paying off to much when behind. As simple and trivial as it may sound, it is still deep and golden IMO.

did you watch the game tonight? he's not going to keep putting up numbers like this but he's obviously skilled and at the very least will be pretty good

I saw it and he was great. But he won't just come straight out of the D league and be Lebron for the next five years. Coaches will figure out how to defend him now that they recognize his skills.

The game is juiced, but I put his range at like A4s/66-K5o/T6s. Like snap-button open IMO.

For some reason I just always imagined you played more poker than this...

But yeah, downswings with that kind of stupidity are annoying as eff. I'm on something similar too.

I've almost always been working full-time in TV since I started playing poker.

I have no idea what SB has, he is probably just a huge fish since JLocke always seems to have the best seat at the table, its irrelevant what SB has.

the main reason i think he can do well is that he is actually a pretty big for a point guard and is deceptively quick which is a deadly combo. you just don't drive to the lane at will four games in a row like this without some talent.

obviously limited sample size but the only story that i can think of that comes close is kurt warner, a guy who just came out of nowhere and instantly starting pwning right away. obviously i don't think that lin is comprable to a hall of fame quarterback but if he even has half the success that he has then its a pretty huge win.
