Apparently when playing 10-20 NL at Hustler, you can go above table-stakes in the middle of a hand so long as the floor is consulted and you and villain agree. Good to know.
Just saw the second episode and this scene. Major LOLs here -- yes, the players added money to their stack after the flop thanks to the floor ruling, but it was done on an AQ8 flop with our hero holding KK (vs. villain's AQ). "Ooh, AQ8 -- what an awesome flop for KK, let me go to my car and get 25k more in cash."
Also, they make the guy convert the cash to chips just so he can shove it in the middle and wait for the turn and river to be dealt -- they don't even let him keep the cash on the table. Wastes everyone's time while the dealer sits there counting out 250 bills and having the floor come over with racks of chips.
That said, at least this scene didn't have the glamor of the preview scenes (which were from the whole season). Nobody in suits, nothing fancy -- it was Hustler as it really is; sunlight pouring into the casino, working class dudes sitting around quietly.
But the dealer was making a lot of disgusted and surprised faces during the hand, as if this was the first time she's seen people gamble.
