i just got back from a utah trip. full trip report in the eld forum. but here's 2 pics for you guys:

Utah is really great! Deer Valley is the bomb. Great snow, great service and great food.
My 1st trip skiing out west was in Utah. Mostly we skied in Maine; Sunday River and Sugarloaf. My son (now 23 and working at Vail this winter) and I finished our 1st run and we were both grinning from ear to ear. I asked him. What did you most notice about the run? He immediately said "the quiet", meaning he didn't hear the typical crunch sound you hear from the skis on the snow back east. That's exactly what I was thinking.

Re: February Low-Content Thread
I got back from Big Sky 2 weeks ago. The snow was pretty bad, but better than most of the country this year. We did get 6-8 inches the 2nd day I was there, but the coverage in a lot of spots was still sparse.
Definitely one of my favorite mountains though. It was pretty easy to get there from Bozeman, the hotels were cheap (like $130 a night for a nice hotel a 2 minute shuttle from the mountain), and the mountain is huge (technically the biggest in the country if you add on the skiing on the backside of the mountain at a rinky dink ski resort called moonlight basin). The best part was there are NO lines. I didn't wait more than 30 seconds in a lift line all week, including the Saturday right after getting the snow.
Vail is still my favorite mountain just because of how diverse the terrain is, but it's soo much more expensive and crowded than some other areas. I haven't skied Utah since I was a lot younger. And even though I live in Boston, I just don't bother skiing out east anymore.
So ya, I'd recommend Big Sky to anyone. It's also worth taking a day to go snowmobiling through Yellowstone while you're out there, which was really cool. Great time of year to see the park, very few people there.

I did this exact trip last year, except we sprung for a ski in-out condo that cost me just a little more but could have slept twice as many people. Great snow (last year, at least) no lines, snowmobiling as a day off. I even played one night of $2-$10 mix games in one of the bars and covered two days of lift tickets. Big Sky is a really good deal.

They both did a good job, but I like how numbnuts didn't berate the fish/bad plays too strongly. I still have to play with these players everyday I dont want anyones feelings to get hurt =p

Re: February Low-Content Thread
Thanks for the feedback on my live at the bike commentating, I had alot of fun. Tuckman did an amazing job keeping things rolling and asked alot of good questions to keep me in the conversation. He made it super easy. I will say it was tough to talk and follow the action. Dave can do it as second nature, but we'd be talking and then on the turn or river he'd be like, "so what do you think of this play here?" and I would think, "I have no idea wtf is happening in this hand." But i'd just bull**** and say something that didn't sound too stupid. All in all I think it went pretty well though.

Like sailboats said, we play with these people everyday and I 1) don't want them to stop playing bad, and 2) don't want them to be pissed at me. It was kinda tough to toe the line, but I think it went alright.

I liked when Tuchman asks:"would you be cold-calling 3 bets with KJo?"
NN:"no, I wouldn't take 3 to the face out of position. Well, he just did."

I was probably the harshest on you which isn't saying much, but I know you can take it. I still think that river raise with AQ against Nick was spew.

Lol, this is funny. I am sure you were the guy who recommended *Some* place to me, but then I messed it up and thought it was snowmass and not snow bird. Anyways, I was looking for something that is comparable to French Alps resorts that I am used to so far. Light snow, diverse terrain and many many runs. Snowmass was real close. Too bad they don't have this Club Med arrangement where its all inclusive.

FYI, if you want to visit Reno for some reason, talk to the Peppermill high-limit poker room manager. If you play 30/60 or 5/10 NL, they are doing some things to encourage people to visit.

Numbnuts, the players won't get better based on your commentary, and who cares if they're pissed at you? Neither seems like a compelling reason to hold back.
I mean even I held back a bit and I guess people think I was too harsh? Meh. I guess I'm more of the mindset that if you're going to do the job, do it. Pretending a horrible play is justifiable only because you don't want to anger your opponents means there's a conflict of interest.
It's like if the nyt hired Ethan Coen to be a film citric and he had to review a Joel Coen movie.

I disagree pj, I think that's too black and white. I think not holding back at all would be wildly inappropriate. If I discussed a player on the show the way I did with someone like you, it would just be mean and that's not my style. There's always more than one way to say something and in this case I thought it was more appropriate to choose the nice way. I don't think the quality of the show suffered as a result. We weren't making a training video, that's what deuces is for. We were making an entertaining show about poker with a little strategy and a little banter. Just curious, are you going off of what people have said about it, or did you watch it?

I didn't see yours. Just going off this thread's conversation.
I agree that some measure of tact is necessary, but because it's best for the show, not because an opponent of mine might get offended.

for what it's worth I do enjoy the "one nl veteran announcer, one professional limit hold 'em player" set up the most.
