I think we are arguing different points, cause I agree with that. I was responding to your answering yes to the question "Do you think user reviews are totally useless in aggregate for standard games/movies/books/music?" In aggregate being the key to my objection. I never read individual yahoo users' movie reviews, but I will often factor in, say, a 4.5 vs a 3 star rating (with 1000+ reviews each) when deciding to see something.

I think the vast majority of the world would say yes. I am a little grossed out to give an accurate assessment though. I could post a pic but probably gone too far ITT already.

It's one thing to know how much work is necessary, and another thing entirely to have the fortitude to do it.

Agreed. But it's also one thing to find a healthy external source in life for that fortitude and another thing to seek it in some myth that comes with a whole lot more baggage and harmful concepts.

I also agree with CDC that he's nowhere near the "in-your-face-ness" of Tebow and have definitely appreciate his humility in deferring praise to his teammates. Still, he's undoubtedly going to be a role model (if not already being touted as that), so it's still somewhat disappointing to me that there is any talk of religion attached.

New game, we draw for button. Guy to my left draws a T, I draw a 9, everyone else at the table draws a baby.

Guy two to my right is the only one left to draw, I turn to Analyst and say "aw ****, the count is like +7".

I couldn't make this guy understand something today. Somebody joked that he could draw the Ace of spades like 10% of the time, and this guy said "I draw it 1 in 52 times." I explained to him that I did slightly better than that because sometimes when we are drawing someone else has already pulled the ace of spades, and in those instances I do not draw, therefore slightly increasing my percentage for pulling the Ace of spades.

He was...confused.

Stop tapping the glass. Even pointing out there are 52 cards is too much.

if lin ends up halfway decent and is here to stay, i think its better than even money he makes the all-star game next year because of the chinese votes. i think it's clear at this point the kid can ball but he has some huuuuge issues he needs to address, mainly that he is a turnover machine.

elo, anytime i ever bet on the pacers, they eff me over bad. i had them on a big teaser today. that said, i think they should be fine, but its not like the pacers or knicks have a chance against chicago or miami anyways.
Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, he's not nearly as annoying as Tebow is with the god stuff. I don't care about humility, actually, I admit that I like guys that are brash/cocky. And as I've mentioned before, I think he has good size and is skilled enough to stick in the league, think he'll eventually be like a 11 point/5 assist in 20 minutes guy at the backup 1.

Pacers match up quite well against Chicago, imo, but I'm not homerific enough to claim they would actually have a reasonable shot to win that series. Miami always stomps them hard.

As a Dubs fan, what are your thoughts on a Monta-Granger swap? I think this is very interesting for both teams. The Pacers badly need a guy that can iso and create his own shot. The only reasonable SF on the Warriors is Dorell Wright, who's not anything better than servicable, imo. They had to play Wright 38 mpg last year, which can't be a good thing. Monta is a more dynamic scorer, but Granger is slightly better defensively (i.e., he's thoroughly average on that end). Really, they're both pretty inefficient chucker fringe All-Stars who might fit better teamwise after a swap. Also, I'm a huge sucker for undersized scoring guards with a big heart (Iverson is my favorite player of all time), so I've always liked Monta.

Granger is 3 years older. Salaries are only 1m off.

i would be kind of interested in the granger monta swap even though i think ellis is better. it's clear that the warriors can't win with him as the centerpiece and that he is probably hurting the growth of curry.

i like ellis too because he is exciting to watch but it is difficult to win with those kind of guys as your primary option. he was at his best when he was the third option behind baron davis and captain jack all those years ago. now he is a poor man's iverson.

Granger?? He's a forward. The Warriors don't need any more middle-sized forwards, that's what has mired them in medocrity for years. No way will they trade Ellis for him. They might have traded him for Chris Paul if they had the chance, but otherwise they won't give up the best player on the team for anything less than a good center.

Even if you think Granger would "mire them in mediocrity for years," how is this any different than what would happen to the Warriors with Ellis on the team?

Monta Ellis is never going to net a good center especially since the value of players in the NBA is so much about what they are paid.
02-17-2012 , 04:21 AM
There are centers with contracts at all different salaries. Regardless, they gain nothing by trading him for a forward.

Yep. He did a few of these shows -- wasn't that an incredible set? 100 minutes of awesome.

The bit about Apple's Terms & Conditions was almost as amazing as the bit about dinosaurs. The guy was just on fire.
