CP20 - 77 - Big Blind

Early morning weekday 6 Handed game

Hero has 77 BB

I had been sitting at the table for no longer than 10-15 minutes... Although game was somewhat short it was a little sleepy.

UTG - An old rock
BU - a super erratic (likes to straddle and make moves post and pre - a bit of a money hater imo) somewhat laggy rec [Buick salesman ] but for the last ten minutes hadn't really been doing anything out of the ordinary. He had just shown down (vs me) KK for the winner.

UTG opens and there's two cold callers. Small blind folds and I call.

Flop is 4w 8bb: QQ9r - Checked to the button, who bets. Hero raises. Everyone else folds except button who calls.

HU turn 6bb: Q - I bet and he raises. Hero?

Thanks in advance.

Who bet? When this goes bet/raise, folding is generally the best play.

Re: CP20 - 77 - Big Blind

Turn's a super easy fold. I'd probably fold 95% and 3bet bluff the other 5% (and it would probably take some weird tell or game flow thing to get me to pull the trigger).

Also, c/r the flop is not good - your hand is really weak, you're not going to fold out that many things that you want to fold out, and you're setting yourself up to get pwned by a laggy guy who has position on you. I think I'd just c/c the flop and then see what the other 2 players do.

Can you explain why you took a k/3! line on that flop 4 ways?. Yeah, you may get utg to fold a better hand but he's the least of your concerns right now if he checked.

That flop line is just crazy poker imo.

i fold flop.

edit: I don't know if I have the action right, but I am assuming you c/3b the flop. Is that right? If so, that is wrong. I cannot imagine any 6 handed game where my opponents looked at their cards and that move would be +ev on this board

Whatever the flop action was this seems like a really easy fold on the turn.

I don't think folding the turn here is that cut and dry. I'd try to get to showdown as often as possible vs this type of player. That said, when I call the turn vs this type of player, I'm calling all river.

I think a 3b has merit too.

Given the correct flop action, I'm still not sure I like your flop play. All your options seem a bit ugly though, maybe you picked the best of a bad situation.

Given your description of Btn, I could go either way on the turn. "Super erratic" is a bit general, if he's the type to irrationally spew randomly a bunch postflop, then I think we have to just showdown and make him show us a hand.

This seems really bad to me. Describe villain is never folding better, imo, and probably always seeing a river with Ax or even a hand like KJ/JT (if they are in his range.) I think we're much better off just calling down and inducing bluffs from him (or just folding the turn if we think he's not spewing in this spot.)

Re: CP20 - 77 - Big Blind

fold flop: OOP, equity not that great even when ahead.

turn: call down, pray he has KJ/KT/JT/A-hi. Most villains are polarized on the turn here; Qx slowplays a decent amount, 9x just calls down, TT+ 3!'s preflop. You need to be good 20% of the time by the river, and against this player, it's likely a profitable spot. Table dynamics seem to dictate an appropriate spot to bluff too (aka he "just showed down a monster").

I expect KJ/KT/JT/A2-AJ/random-ATC by the river. Results?

Re: CP20 - 77 - Big Blind

I probably play the same on flop and call down because I don't like folding and it is just so easy not to in limit. But if we take a step back and think about it, our equity on the flop vs a KJ type hand is less than 60%. The turn is great vs his range, but this is the worst card to bluff, even for a maniac. It comes down to whether you think he is more or less likely to make a play after just showing down KK as a winner vs you. Meh, it's hard to make hands- what's the odds of having it 2x in a row!? I still vote call.
