Flop looks like a wa/wb spot and I might be inclined to call, though I also like raising, given it prevents others from peeling cheap.

Actually, if this Russian guy is the one I think it is (blonde, slim ~25 y.o. one), he will usually have very strong hand when he takes this line. Apart from this particular person, I am actually seeing this line with a strong range more and more recently from sane players (instead of check raising).

I think the missing (or implied) part of the argument is that there is something other than "it" that he can have which in this case is the flush draw.

But I'm actually not so sure of the river bet. when he checks here it's often cause he paired up. He can also have 99. He might be planning to sexy with a 4 or FH. OTOH you'll get value from K8s, Q8s, 89s, 87s and that's about it right?
