Commerce 20: Backraise
I open K 7 in the CO and the BTN (very good 30ish Vietnamese woman) 3bets. SB (super loose Korean guy, his range is virtually any 2 cards) calls, as does the BB (whose range is wide but not stupid - like broadway cards, pairs, decent suited cards). 4 ways for 12 SB total.
Flop 9 8 6 . BB donks, I call, BTN raises, SB calls 2 cold, BB calls, I 3bet, BTN hesitates and calls, SB calls, BB calls (24 SB).
Turn 9 . BB donks again, I call, BTN raises, SB calls 2 cold again, BB folds, I call (19 BB).
River K , SB checks, I check, BTN bets, SB tank-calls, I tank fold getting 21:1.

Re: Commerce 20: Backraise
What did you put button on? aces or kings? I think you can find a call, the button can have jj or qq. I'd think a set would have capped the flop
I like the flop play, I don't see the merit in raising when it's highly likely the button will raise and we can get 3 or 4 bets in with a huge draw.

Re: Commerce 20: Backraise
isn't that a gin flop for that hand?
start getting money in...
just hit the edit button...why did you fold top pair getting 20something to 1 closing the action?

Re: Commerce 20: Backraise
I don't know if Button sees it this way or not, but it seems to me that Hero's hand looks like a busted draw (that may have just spiked top pair but probably didn't). With this in mind, I'm thinking Button can bet for value against whatever she thinks SB might pay off with, such as T6o.
I doubt Hero has the best hand. But at 21:1 with a rivered top pair, I'm looking for an excuse to call.

Re: Commerce 20: Backraise
First, I don't want to blow anyone out so I like your flop play.
OTR, I call for the reasons Nick C articulated.

Re: Commerce 20: Backraise
I can go either way on whether to raise the initial donk on the flop, depends on how likely SB &/or BB is going to continue facing 2 or 3 more cold. Its a bit of a disaster when Btn isolate 3!s and were HU OOP on the turn.
Should Btn be afraid of 9x from BB? I can find a fold on the river if BB's range contain's 9x (or more accurately Btn thinks BB can have 9x) and Btn is betting the river regardless.

And if she is actually good you can't fold the river after that back raise.

Re: Commerce 20: Backraise
You have to call this river getting this price. Bb is unlikely to play trup 9s like that and btn doesnt have that many 9s in his range. In any event, you win more than four percent of the time. I like the flop play. You flop huge and you want to maximize value, isnt that the best way to do that to call and possibly backraise? I guess it depends on how likely peeps behind will take two to the face with overs? I

Re: Commerce 20: Backraise

Re: Commerce 20: Backraise
Raise flop, river fold is awful (bet screams something like TT-QQ for value, and SB could be lolcalling with 6x).

Re: Commerce 20: Backraise
I think she shows up with JJ or QQ enough to call the river closing the action.
