It's not racism that changes over time, it's race. There was a time when Irish and Italians hated each other. Now they may still hate each other but there are a lot of 25% Irish 25% Italian 25% Estonian 25% French people who aren't sure who they're supposed to hate.
At some point America will have enough multiracial people that we all will be confused who to hate.
Until the alien overlords descend.

Re: August Low-Content Thread
I'm really just trolling for my own McCarthy picture here, but I've begun to actively root for foreign athletes, as NBC lacks the motivation to feed me extremely played-out narrative backstories for them, leaving me the opportunity (usually squandered, but whatev) to imagine their history and inner life for myself in real dimension, and thus to root for them as more than the 2012 embodiment of a hokey archetype.
Basically gogogo guys from Belgium over Americans who are DOING IT FOR THEIR PARENTS GUYS.

Re: August Low-Content Thread
To be fair I used to just root for black people, but as stern points out we're over that now.

Re: August Low-Content Thread
Well, my "poker vacation" in Commerce is over, family is back in town - returning to normal life now... Spent there almost 2 months trying to see how a true live grind looks like. Interesting experience. Met a few cool guys who are also great players, nice meeting you guys! Thanks 2p2 for answering my stupid strat questions, this resource is invaluable!
Even though I am super happy with my results, looks like turning into a full time pro is not a viable option, even though I apparently enjoy poker more than I do my day job - but betting on it long term is a scary proposition for now... so will keep on trying to find the right balance.

Re: August Low-Content Thread
I am having a little bit of a hard time figuring out how I feel about this. I am linking the story so you guys can see what I mean. This girl is very close with my daughter. We basically got her into gym. My kid is not the best by a long shot, but she is better then her buddy despite the fact that she is 2 years younger. So, I feel like it is a little strange that they do this story and I have to try and explain to my kid why they did it. My kid is pretty easy going but it feels like they are going too far and giving her friend special attention feels like a step backwards. Having this particular reporter do the story also seems contrived.

I don't know, seems like typical puff piece. BTW, I really hate spending soooooo much time researching and studying lying tells.
Like that mom, is lying HER *** off when she talks about dominque dawes being a huge inspiration for her. It's so blatantly obvious she doesn't believe it and is just saying it for tv.

Yeah the mom was saying what they wanted to hear for sure.
I was talking about the over-coverage of Gabby's skin color and how it seems pretty racist to act like it is a surprise a black girl won.

Sorry, pet peeve. Leave it to ketchup to end my silence on the boards since i left for wsop.

agree with everything you said. except its garlic pesto "aioli"

Certainly the "one world" concept has an ultimate goal of ****ing everyone.
And yes, I really enjoy consuming troll bait.

youre insane. everyone is race conscious to some degree. and race conscious = racism. i can tell you that i frequently look at some people and think "oh that persons chinese or vietnamese and she has an amazing athletic and toned body. id love to **** them."

If they were my friends, I would be thrilled for them. To be on TV at a young age is very exciting.
