I'll be Debbie Downer - I think it's very good for good players, pretty bad for bad players, and quite possibly diasterous for the house.
Structures that are good for good players are bad for bad players for the exact same reasons - it rewards good play. The pace at which the player pool dwindles will affect the number of dealer-hours they need to deal the tournament, and good structures for good players will drive up costs. This tournament will probably cost the house much more than a typical wham bam thank you ma'am NL tournament.
