Re: April Low-Content Thread
Two full 40s when I showed up at midnight tonight. 4 in the afternoon is just kind of a dead time. Day crowd is getting bored, those with jobs are still at work.

Sean:
Howard is spot on in all of this. As a matter-of-fact, the wife and I would have stayed at the Athletic Club on this trip if we hadn't brought the boys along.
A one bedroom villa is about 1000-1200 square feet; has a full kitchen, living room with big sectional sofa and fireplace, dining room and washer/dryer tucked away in one of those little unobtrusive closets. I don't remember the exact rate; but, I do know it was south of two fun tickets per night.
It's only about a couple of miles from the CAZ, too. The CAZ is more than glad to send their limo (comped) to get you anytime between noon and midnight. You'll need to get a cab if you leave the casino after midnight, tho.
Or, I'd be glad to PM you Sam's cell number. There is no better driver in Phoenix, imo. Tell him I referred you and that you tip even better than me.
btw: do you have a Tommy Bahama shirt, some nice cotton slacks and Rainbow sandals? I found that attire to be very +EV at the CAZ.

Re: April Low-Content Thread
I will also be at the Arizona Casino this weekend. Come say hi. Dont know what I'll be wearing, but just walk over to the 75, 1/2 or whatever is going and ask if MitchL from two plus two.com, a site where players discuss strategy, is playing. If I am stuck I wont answer, but dont take offense.

I am guessing you know where it was moved to, and it should include sunglasses!

Don't be so selfish. The B&M people deserve a good thread every once in a while, and it's our job to provide it. Otherwise it would be a bunch of nitty debates about whether your hand is dead if you sneeze.

For your benefit- and that of all 2+2ers that haven't yet enjoyed the "hospitality" of the CAZ- I'll reiterate the dress code required of new-comers if you expect to beat the games.
Tommy Bahama shirts are recommended; but, I'd imagine that one of those shirts by that "other designer-guy" that is so popular out there in CA would suffice.
Stay conservative with your pants. Cotton, linen or khakis will suffice. (Shorts would likely draw too much attention and make the better players suspect of your abilities.)
Sandals or flop-flops are a must, however. After all, what decent poker player would wear those into a casino?
I hope this helps.

As it turns out, PokerBob and ShawnHoo are never not wearing sandals/flip-flops at Commerce. This is 100% of the time, even when it's cold out. And since both of these guys win at poker, I'm inclined to believe there may be a link between my recent downswing and the fact that I always have socks and laced-up shoes on my feet. Unfortunately I can't remedy this because winning at poker is not enough of a motivation to get me to dress like I'm taking a shower in a dorm or going to the beach.
However, the subset of flip-flop wearers is completely different from those who wear Ed Hardy. And the Ed Hardy people are never winning at poker, ever. So I guess if you're going to make the sartorial sacrifice for your game, open-toed shoes are superior to douchey garments.

I am a habitual flip flop wearer as well. I think for Pbob and myself, new Californians, there is no such thing as cold weather in this state so flip flop season is year round.

PJ:
I have, of course, the highest regard for you. And with all due respect, I'm sure that the players at the Commerce don themselves in such a vast array that any given outfit wouldn't seem too far out of place.
My point about wearing sandals to the CAZ- being located in the desert and all- was that nobody except a tourist would do that, especially this time of year.
PBob and Shawn: sounds like packing and airport security would be a "breeze."
