Structures that are good for good players are bad for bad players for the exact same reasons - it rewards good play. The pace at which the player pool dwindles will affect the number of dealer-hours they need to deal the tournament, and good structures for good players will drive up costs. This tournament will probably cost the house much more than a typical wham bam thank you ma'am NL tournament.
Well they are charging $100 per player. Reasonable, but the real reason for tournements is to get people in the door.

Perhaps my most interesting tipping scenario yet.... I place a to go order and it comes to 20.30. I have a single hundred on me and pay with it. I get back $70 in five dollar bills....

Edit:

N/m, reread and saw it was a takeout scenario.

If you usually tip a few bucks, and have a positive outlook on life, point out the mistake, ask for a $5 and five ones, and leave whatever you normally would.

If you're jaded and think they were obv trying to screw you, make a little scene, demand your $10 back and then go show em who's boss by writing a scathing review on yelp and complaining about the horrible injustice to on your FB feed.

Should have clarified, she said she only has $5 bills. Also it was a typo I got $80 in fives back on 20.20 bill

In that case, "I'll get you next time".

That seems really odd that she would only have 5s, but if so she doesn't seem to be angling for anything to me; she already gave you an extra 20 cents.

Throw a red chip to the dealer while making a knife-chop motion with your hand.

if you went to a place to get a to-go order and the only thing on your person was a $100 bill i think you just have to accept the game she played and tip $5. fish tax.

thats what I did, just found it very odd that a bar would only have $5 bills. It wasn't an angle for a tip or anything, just an odd situation.
04-12-2016 , 01:06 AM
I'd tip $5. Wouldn't even think about.
04-12-2016 , 02:56 AM
I'd tip $0. Wouldn't even think about.

Can't imagine tipping on takeout orders.

i think a better way of phrasing is, what if the total was $21/$22/$23/$24 and she still only has $5 bills? where do you draw the line on giving $20 vs $25?

To each their own.

I rarely get Take Out so I understand it effects your bottom line if you get Take Outs a lot. Regardless, I imagine the $5 will help a minimum wage cashier more than me saving $5.

I have several freinds who are very bad tippers and completely understandable if people don't tip on Take Outs.

In the same tipping realm, do you tip at the cage and when do you tip floorman/chip runners? How much ? Does this change if it's at your regular home poker room? I am somewhat of a newb to the live cash scene and am not quite sure of the norm. Thanks in advance

Personally I usually tip chip runners $1 or $2 of its complicated/time consuming. Usually tip floor people $5 or $10 for whatever (usually getting chips)

Foobar - when is the MD Live limit hold'em tourney?
04-13-2016 , 12:08 PM
Speaking of limit tournaments, how many of you guys are planning on playing the $10K LHE? Any worries getting into or around town during EDC?
04-13-2016 , 12:33 PM
I'm thinking of playing either the 10k wsop LHE or the 3k 6 max. It seems that you get more play in the 6 max -- so I'll probably go with that.

To those who played either/both of those tournaments, what did you think of the structure etc?
04-13-2016 , 01:33 PM
I was thinking about playing the $1,500 O8 which is that weekend also, but then I saw the room rates and changed my mind.

I played the 3k LHE last year. No problems with the structure but I didn't get to experience much of it as I think I was one of the first bust outs. There were a couple tougher players at the table, but there was also one player who was bad enough that I thought it was a pretty good table draw overall. Of course, he had all the chips when I busted.
