What exactly is a lagtag? What exactly is a lagtag?

03-03-2009 , 12:59 PM
This term gets an awful lot of use lately. What does it mean exactly? Does it mean "loose" pre flop then "tight" post flop? What sort of stats does the prototypical "lagtag" have? Is the conventional wisdom that "lagtag" is the best way to play mid stakes LHE these days?

22/16/5.0, WTSD 29/W$SD 65

im as confused as u... but i think that if u play 6max and got a 30/21/2, WTSD 41% filtered for 5-6 handed game u are a lagtag... a 25/20 is a german tag and a 35/25 is a lagtag on the laggy side (oink kind of lagtag)

but correct me if im wrong

the wordcombos looseaggressive and tightagressive are of course a bit silly since what is considerd loose/tight and passive/aggressive changes over time

when people just say lagtag I think they just mean a regular that seems to pretty okay

AFAIK, it's just between a LAG and a TAG.

A TAG might be 18-28 VPIP and 15-24 PFR, a LAG might be 36-60 VPIP and 30-50 PFR, a LAGTAG is just the in between range of 28-36 VPIP and 20-30 PFR.

I'd say 28/21 through 35/25 and AF 1.6 to 2.6 is a reasonable criteria.

I think 33/23 up to 38/28 is about right.

I think your prototypical LAGTAG is not that tight postflop, at least when you compare to a prototypical TAG. So I'm not a big fan of the "LAG preflop, TAG postflop" translation of the acronym.

an overused term

I thought "german" was used for describing stuff that comes from germany .

am i a lag or a lag tag
03-04-2009 , 03:49 PM
lag tag imo
03-04-2009 , 05:47 PM
it was first used on here for people that won despite playing looser than 23/18 or w/e it was playing party 10/20. clearly means something different now
03-05-2009 , 12:40 AM
These days it is actually 35.8/25.7.

As I understand it, it's a euphemism for spewbox.

Someone who gives fits to those who cannot play or hand read very well, but gets destroyed by a truly good player.
03-05-2009 , 03:13 PM
what are they if they dont get destroyed by truly good players? or do players like this only live in my fantasy world, like the majestic unicorn?

wow! Now I'm going to have to search my post history and see what else I posted in blacked-out-drunkenness last night.

It means an old 2+2 TAG who learned that TAG is too tight to win now, so they loosened up preflop and tried to work on an agro/crazy image postflop, for which they could argue that every goofy play they made was for the metagame, and every other play was just plain awesome.

typical LAGTAG = 37/26/2.8 + or - a bit each way

maybe u are joking and i dont get it, but its more or less impossible to be a 37/26/2.8

why?

Would you say these pf stats with an AF of 2.45 is far more reasonable?
