2+2 Administration has decided on a major change to the rules in the A/R forum. It actually applies to all forums, but will mostly affect A/R. There are three main reasons for these changes:
- 2+2 currently has no control over offers being made by affiliates. Many networks and/or sites have asked that offers that break their network rules not be allowed on 2+2, a request we typically honour. However, we have very little control over what affiliates are offering via PM.
- A bigger concern is related to the first one – this same lack of control means that we have no way of knowing anything about the credibility of affiliates making PM offers. That isn’t to say that we are guaranteeing or vetting offers made by advertisers, or that all affiliates that don’t advertise on 2+2 are shady. As a matter of fact, we expect that there are many great affiliates that don’t advertise with us. That said, we believe that the proportion of good affiliates to poor ones is substantially higher among our advertisers. In addition, we are more able to hold advertisers accountable for their actions.
- Fairness to advertisers – we don’t feel it’s fair to our advertisers that we are providing what amounts to a completely free advertising venue for their competition.
So, as for the change:
Effective immediately, the only posters that will be allowed to reply to offer requests will be approved advertisers. The easiest way to tell who these are will be by the turquoise names and custom undertitles. Anyone else who replies to offer requests, by PM or otherwise, will be subject to bans, infractions, or warnings, as we see fit. We welcome reports of violations via
Two Plus Two Advertising, or by PM.
If you are interested in becoming an approved advertiser, please contact
Two Plus Two Advertising.
