I tried to log on today to my poker client through sportsbook and was told my account was closed for security reasons. I asked through chat what was wrong, and below is the copy and paste text of what a dick-head the chat guy was:

chris: its fine if you want to close my account, thats your prerogative, but without any explanation, is unacceptable.

As you can see, guy was a total dick-head. I understand it's their site and they can ban who they please, but is asking for a reason too much to ask? Even if they gave me a reason, and I don't agree with it, its still their site and can do what they wish. Anyway, I'm not starting this thread for help or to get my account back open, b/c I really couldn't care less, just letting everyone out there know.

Ivan was fine. You were the one swearing at him. Even if Ivan did want to give the reason, he'd get fired because upper management instructed him not to do so. Most likely, he doesn't even know it or have access to it.

This happens and has happened plenty of times before.

In most cases, it does seem some type of fraud or attempted fraud was committed.

The "you can't talk about it or get to know the reason or anything else" line is a bit rough, I've seen other places do it though.

The only time this is really an issue is when there is a false positive. I've heard of a few, but most times we see these threads it seems suspicious/fraud related.

Ivan was fine?? He was a total dick. I only swore at him due to frustration and a lack of explanation. I'm not saying it was right and I'm not the type to fly off the handle, but I do think I am owed an explanation considering the amount of money I have deposited and subsequently lost on their site. That's the least they could do.

How is he a "total dick"? I get that you're not happy about the decision to close your account without providing a reason, but all he's doing is passing the information along to you, and fairly politely from what I can see. Sort of doubt he gets to overrule upper management and tell you the reason, if he even knows what it is.

I would guess this depends on whether it is in fact your money or fraudulently acquired. Why don't you just tell us what you did and we will be the judge?

You have absolutley NO idea why the account was suspended? Did you not play on the site for a long period of time or do anything that was suspicious to them? Such as not provide some sort of personal information needed for a withdrawal. Or maybe just be a total douche in chat boxes across the site or in emails to support? There has to be something. I suppose it could happen anyway though. Read it before, usually with reasons or a misunderstanding of some sort.

Just wanted to chime in and say that in the past Merge has closed down my accounts, my roommate's accounts and a friends account mistakenly. It can happen and it happened to me. In the end it will work itself out if you have indeed done nothing wrong.

From my experience contacting reps here on 2p2 was the only way to get a second look and keep updated on what is happening.

The guy could have very well done something wrong but not looking at it objectively combined with accusatory tones is wrong until we have more information imo.

OP said he lost the funds he had on their site. I can only assume that the reason they didn't cash them out is because they did not feel he should rightly be allowed to cash them out.

Why is it so hard to believe I did nothing wrong? Or if I did, I didn't knowingly do whatever it is that got my account closed.

At any rate, I got an email today stating my account has been fully reinstated. Still don't know why it was closed to begin with.

At least in the end you got your account re-instated.

This happened to me before they switched over to the new cashier.

Had an account on both Carbon and RPM at the time, playing back and forth regularly, few hours on 1...few hours on the other..rinse and repeat.

Saw they were coming out with a new site, Carbon Sports that offered Sportsbooking as well...this piqued my interest to try something new, as well as the potential for CC deposits again. So per instructions that were posted in the appropriate thread (was stated that even if you already had a Carbon account, you had to make a new account under Carbon Sports).

This turned out to be the doomswitch on my Merge playing..as they did the same to me that they did to you. Closed all my accounts with no further explanation.

After eventually talking through a few levels..finally got the same "for potential fraud reasons"; even though my information was accurate already on both accounts AND verified on BOTH Carbon and RPM.

The reps were very helpful to me though in trying to find things out. Just thought it was a lame copout excuse when i tried my best to explain the misunderstanding and to send whatever paperwork/verification needed to show them.

I know online poker sites can state they don't want your business per their tos and not have to give you a reason. The problem with that is they can take all your money and not give you a reason. The fact that they reinstated op is just shady. I love how everyone or a lot of people jumped on op telling him off course he did something wrong.

While sites have the option of booting someone without cause or reason this is the first time I have seen the tos invoked . There really is no reason not to give a reason for a site banning someone . I would be more then leery of a site that did this because they can take your money cart blanche without an explanation. Scary.
